Q: Weird Nausea-- Ortho Lo

I've been on ortho tri-cyclen lo since may. I'm very pleased with it. My emotional pms symptoms have decreased significantly, my skin is immaculate, and i've stopped gaining weight and am able to lose weight again. My breasts tend to be tender from the time I start my last week of active pills until after my period, but this doesnt' happen every month.

However, randomly throughout the day I experience a sudden urge to throw up. I haven't actually done it, but it feels as if i'm going to at any moment. This is very different from the nausea I had when I was pregnant and on higher dose pills. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, did anything help? I currently take my pill at night. Would switching to morning or mid day help?

I just started taking ortho tri cyclen lo and have also experienced some nausea. I think its probably normal because when I first started regular ortho tri cyclen, I also had these side effects.

I have heard that taking your pill at night is supposed to help, but if your already doing that then i'm not sure what would help you.

I'm On the Patch...
And I get that sick feeling around 4 pm everyday. Less on sunday since I change it on sunday night and the patch is running low. But it is like clockwork. I'm hoping that my system will get used to it and the nausea will go away. I've only been on it two weeks and 1 day Shocked

If you have been on the pill for two months or more and are still getting bothersome side effects then you need to switch pills. There are many pills out there and there is most likely going to be one that does not make you sick like that. Good luck. I personally cannot take ortho as it doesn't work for me, and ortho lo makes me spot all month because it isn't strong enough. You should try the pills with only one hormonal level throughout the whole month. They may work better for you.

Give the patch time and those symptoms should pass, but if they don't then you should look into a pill also. Good luck girls.

Dredging up the old nausea thread again, but I have a question....

I'm currently on my 2nd pack of pills, and i've been taking the active pills for a week. The first month I was on the pill, I experienced nausea after the first couple of days of taking it, which persisted for nearly a week, before disappearing.

My period was perfectly on schedule, no spotting, lucky me. But about a week after beginning my active pills, I began experiencing the same sort of nausea (and a little indigestion, might I add), and it hasn't gone away. Is it normal for the nausea to return...And that late after starting to take the active pills again?? At present, it's been 2 weeks since i've been taking my active pills.

I would hope that i'm not pregnant, but I don't believe it's likely that I am. During my first month of taking the pill, I had sex a few times, but we used condoms (w/ spermicide). However, this nausea quandry is really throwing me off here...

It may not be from the pill. It could be from your nerves or something else altogether. If it continues though I would see your doc. It really does seem odd to me though that you have been alright for so long and then the nausea just came back. Odd.
Try to relax, pay attention to what you eat before you get nausea and indigestion. Then stay away from those foods and see if you feel better.

Im on ortho-lo and nausea is my biggest complaint. Especially in the first week, where Im finally used to no hormones, then start again. If I take it at night, Im so nauseous in the morning its unbearable, or will wake up at 3am throwing up.
Ive found that 6pm works best to avoid nausea, and eat around 8.
