My son has a neurological disorder that manifests itself in a severe developmental delay. 18 years old outside but 12-36 months inside. He is non-verbal but understands the majority of what is said. Question: he had one small seizure 4 years ago. Lots of doctors/tests done/idiopathic. The neuro did not put him on chronic seizure med. A few weeks ago, I heard a strange sound and found him on his side (thankfully), biting his tongue, and turning a horrible shade of purple. I was able to get his tongue over with my finger, and he took a gulp of air but still seizing. By the time ems arrived, he was still purpleish, but more on the red side and breathing. This seizure lasted over 5 minutes and they thought he was beginning to seize again after they had begun treatment. We see a new neuro in a few days. I'm worried about the effects of meds, especially when he can't tell me how he feels. I'm frantic that this will happen again during the night, or when i'm not home with him, and he won't recover. Anyone with information? I have a baby monitor, but that is certainly not going to keep him safe. He doesn't sleep, either. He stopped when he was around 4 years old. Neuro said just a part of his disorder. Sorry about the length. Help anyone?
