to the person who wrote the long story about there surgery and still suffering,

i am going through the same thing. I had mine removed in march and I am truly regretting it! I am sick everyday to the point of almost vomiting. Haven't yet but very close the last week. I am now having pain under my rib cage that goes between my shoulder blades(which I had before I had my gb removed) that just started this week as well. This is really driving me insane. Why all of a sudden is all of this coming back??!! I am also dizzy and off-balance which has caused me to have some major anxiety attacks.
I am assuming you have been to the Dr. Have you found out anything--what is causing your symptoms? I am curious to know!

Thanks,
donna

hey donna,

i think you should go get an ultrasound again, just to make sure that the bladder was closed off correctly, or that there wasnt a stone left behind in the bile duct. Usually the doctor will ultrasound you before you are closed off to ensure that they didnt miss one...

Yep go back to the dr incase there is a problem with your bile duct, which should be easily remedied!

Thanks! I am scheduled to see my Dr. Next week. Why would this happen all of a sudden though? I had my gb removed in march (9 months ago) and this pain and near vomiting just started last week?! Wouldn't these symptoms have started long ago if the duct wasn't closed off properly?

Oh well, life miserbly goes on. Lol!

Still Having Problems
Hi donna,

that would be me. I can tell you that my Dr. Sent me to the gastro specialist and basically wants to do the "spin" which is the scope both thru the mouth and then tru the rear. He really was no help and i'm amazed after all the reading i've been searching to find so many others with similar problems and the Dr.S seem so confused by it! I was told that i'm stressed haha! Really, try being sick every day, unable to figure out what you can or cannot eat, have painful sludge like bowel movements followed by non stop visits to the toilet because of loose and fatty stools. I still have days where I cannot function well due to the stomach sickness. It's like having the stomach flu where my stomach feels like there's rocks in it and I don't throw up but wish I could to stop the sickness. I too found myself getting dizzy, more like off balance and that made me nervous! I too now find myself anxious constantly wondering when or how bad i'm going to feel. I actually tried to go out the ither night with my best friend, the first time since the removal and had to rush home due to painful stomach pains. Of course I don't do oils, grease or fat! I also find that I have a week or so before I do have a bowel movement and when I do it's the same thing I was saying above. I usually feel really sick the night before. To the person who wrote about our gallbladders not being needed, sure makes me wonder why something so not needed had to come out cause it made me sick and why not having it causes my body so much trouble. I have had every blood test and have had my organs declared good! I'm begging for an mri as one last option before the scope but the Dr. Doesn't want to. I'm going to see another gastro specialist tomorrow. I really didn't feel good about the additude of the one I saw. I'll try and pass as much info as possible but you're so not alone. It is awful and wish I never had to have it removed! Iam so glad for those who have had the surgery and their bodies are better or have no problems! I guess some of us didn't fair as well.......All I know is what i'm feeling and it wasn't there before the removal!

Were you tested for sphincter of oddi dysfunction?

This sometimes causes pain in people who have had gallbladder surgery.

I had my gb out last march too and am doing great!! I am on nexium though for gerd... I've tried to go off twice but get horrible sternum area pain that goes into my back... Nothing like before my gb was removed though... So try a ppi if you are still having trouble... I tried them all... Protonix, aciphex, prilosec... And who knows what else!! Nexium is the only thing that works for me... I've been on it since the surgery...

I would have my gb out again in a heartbeat!! I was nauseous, fatigued, dizzy, and in constant pain... I had no stones, and no sign of a yiggy gb but when they got in there it was swollen and inflamed and looked like it had been 'sick' for years.... Not sure if the gb caused the reflux trouble or vice versa...

Removed Gallbladder
I saw the gastro specialist and she said to try probiotics. You can find it in health stores or in some health isles at the markets. Basically its heavy amounts of acidophilous and other good bacterias needed to keep the body in working function. She says she sees a significant improvement in people who take it.Primal defense was one that was recommended.I'm still having the scope done just to see on the inside and she said that there is no term for what causes the symptoms or why, just that it is. Not fun to hear but guess it's the way it is. Like I said, I didn't have ibs or all the other names put to it before this. The only time I was sick to my stomach was when I had the flu or food sickness! Also for the weight loss i've been doing insure. It's doing okay so far. It's lactose and gluten free.

Hi there,

its been 3 months since i've had my gallbladder removed. It was very painful I had so many attacks it got inflammed and swollen. My stomach, shldrs, back and chest hurt...Severe pain. I was in and out surgery was great. I did start eating some fatty foods and chocolate. I recommend not too. Today i'm experiencing for the 2nd day in a row abdominal pain, bloating, cramps chronic nausea, and aching pains in my lower right hip area. Any suggestions other than going to urgent care?

3 Mo. Post Gallbladder Removal
I am 2.5 months post surgery and can pretty much agree with many others on this forum. The digestion/elimination process isn't as great as it once was. But I was very interested in the symptom you described which I have had since my surgery - aching pain in my right hip. It even is sensitive to touch. But how strange is that! How could that be related to gall bladder??

Boobookitty,

sorry to hear you are suffering, but seems we are not alone in this by the looks of this thread--unfortunately! I have went back to my Dr. Many times and he just keeps saying according to my blood work and tests I am healthy...Good to hear but sure don't feel it. He chalks it up to ibs--the disease I think means "i don't have a clue what is wrong with you and don't care to find out". Lol! The worse part of this was I was perfectly fine before I had my gb removed--well apart from when I started to get the "attacks" and now I am worse off then ever. Too bad they can't do gb transplants, huh?
Well I hope you find something out and you feel better soon!

And to the person that said try ppi's, I have tried them all and am currently taking pantoloc (protonix) and have been for months. It helps the acid reflux, but not anything else.

Donna,

seems to be the same here. I had the scope done mon. And it seems as though every thing looks good, still waiting for the biopsy report. My Dr. Says the same thing about the ibs. Funny cause i'm still trying to figure out when after 35 yrs I now have suddenly developed ibs!!! I have never had problems with anything regarding my bowels! Other then the flu or bad food lol! I too, just can't seem to understand why it all came from outta no where. I do know now that there are others who have the same thing but really hope this isn't a lifetime ailment. The other thing is that I have never had acid reflux or any other type of indigestion so anti's are no use for me.I'm just tired of the Dr.S looking @ me as though I have nothing better to do but to have tests done to try and figure out why I always feel like crap now or that i'm just stressed! Makes me wonder if Dr.S even look @ these posts. Still going to push for an mri. Here's hoping for some comfort!

Gallbladder Out In May - Problems
Like donna, my surgery was awhile ago, mine was last may. I did not have stones, but had inflammation and pain. I kept telling both the gi dr and surgeon that I thought I had adhesions from prior ab surgeries...The gi said no to my theory. Well, the surgeon (ws surprised at the discovery!) did find a large adhesion imbedded in the liver. Both the adhesion and gallbladder were removed. I did ok for a couple of months, then all heck broke lose. I am now having a lot of pain in my stomach (they say it is very inflamed), burping, gurgling and noise in my stomach, bloating, esophagus problems (barrett's), it's been stretched twice since sept. I am nauseous every day and get diarrhea off and on. I am vomitting bile nearly every morning and obviously, bile is passing in the stool. It is aweful. Please re-think having gallbladder surgery if you do not have stones. I question if I had to have the gallbladder removed at all.

I have colestid, aciphex, carafate for all the excess bile produced by the liver. So far, it is not working. What kind of meds do you all take?

I don't trust my stomach or bowels anymore. It controls my life at the moment. I am angry, frustrated, and scared. I wish some brilliant doctor would come to the rescue, do the needed research, and treat us as we deserve. Personally, I think they already know the answers, but fear legal rammifications if they admit that the laparoscopy procedure may not be the best way to handle. I think the full open ab surgery may be warranted, because they can see better and get a clear understanding of the ducts, etc. I know the ab technique is harder on the patient and more costly, but jeepers...Why continue treating when so many of us are obviously having serious consequences. Thoughts? Suggestions? I don't know what to do...I want my life back. Thanks for letting me vent. I wish you all well.

Surgery Ten Days Ago
I had my gall bladder removed ten days ago and my stomach is still distended and stretched. It looks like I am pregnant. I am so uncofortable. I have been constantly moving around and other than returning to work I have essentially resumed my normal life. Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this problem?

Still Not Feeling Good
I ended back in the e.R this sunday due to the pain in the stomach. The e.R Dr. Basically said that Dr.S don't do surgery if they thought it would cause such problems and that those of us on the internet are nothing to report on compared to how many people who have had the surgery and have no problems. I just want to know why after having the only surgery ever that I am constantly in stomach pain/discomfort? I too have a strong pain tolerance and what makes them think that after 30 some odd years of life I drastically had a change of life and have nothing better to do but for the past 7 months beg for help as to why I am now this way? I don't think we'll ever get an answer so hope you have a good dr as far as pain meds go! That's all they want to give me! How i'm supposed to raise three kids and function drugged up is beyond me! Back tp the gastro for no answers and another bill!

Gallbladder Removal
I had my gallbladder removed almost 2 weeks ago. The surgery itself was a very easy process for me, I was out of the hospital a few hours after the surgery. I could east crackers and soup the first few days but now I am back to a normal diet..(including pizza, yum!) the only thing that I have complaints about are that I have bad pain that moves all over my abdomen and its beginning to worry me. I believe this has nothing to do with the surgery and it could be another disease or something. Hopefully it will go away, overall I am glad I had my gallbladder removed.
