Ha! I know the feeling. I have 3 little ones at home all under age 6. I don't have time to make healthy gourmet meals so I usually end up making something easy like kd or grilled cheese and then regret it later! It's funny because some foods that bothered me before don't bother me now and ones that never use to bother me do. And I have a new one creep up on me every once in a while. Ugghhhh the torture!
And chocolate....Don't get me started on that!!!!!!!!!!

The only thing that bothers me beside a case of diarrhea once is that I cannot sleep on my stomach anymore like I used to.. It is very uncomfortable.

Gallbladder Removal
Hi there! It was ten years ago that I had my gallbladder removed. I was instructed by my doctor to take it easy for at least 2 months after surgery. He told me no fried foods, no fast food , absolutely no spicy foods, and lots of veggies! All my life I had been accustomed to eating every meal with chile. He told me that I would most likely never eat it again. Well I just couldn't imagine eating my food without chile. I want to say that I waited at least the 2 months before I ate everything that I use to. Ten years later and i'm still eating everything including chile! I was 23 at the time so who knows how I will be feeling in another twenty years without my gallbladder.

Gallbladder....
Hello everyone. I, thankfully, have not had too much trouble after having my gallbladder removed. As a matter of fact, I have found that I am able to eat the things that I love the most like pizza and spaghte with out too much trouble. I don't even seem to get diarhea to much. One thing that I have added to my diet is enzymes. They seem to help my body rid itself of the unwanted stuff.

a Bit Confused...
Hi, im due to have my gall bladder removed, due to gallstones and fairly regular attacks. After reading about everyones post op problems (i know this might be a stupid question) am I right in thinking that by having the bl***y thing removed I still wont be able to eat the foods I like or drink what I like (im only 18!) and there is a good chance of still having alot of pain? At least by not removing it I would be able to digest the occational big meal instead of none at all?

Afer Gallbladder Surgery
My husband was involved in a accident. Dec 2003 the steering wheel hit him so hard it knocked him out. A month later he began vomiting a dark color and his urine was a dark brownish color. The doctors couldn't tell him what was wrong. Approximately two years after this(march 2005) he was rushed to the hospital with a gallbladder inflamed three times the normal size. He had a drainage tube inserted to his gallbladder and after three months of this his gallbladder was removed. It has been two months after his operation and he is in the hospital again with the exact same symptoms. There were never any gall stones found and this go around the doctor told him he had fluid and an extreme amount of gas in his system. He is a diabetic and his blood sugar went crazy up to 25, he was experiencing heavy sweating even when just drinking water, absolutely no energy, he could sleep 15 hrs, get up for 5 minutes and still complain about being tired! Can anyone shed some light on this, I appreciate your help.

Scary
I'm due to have surgery next month and it seems half and half baised on this website on what ppl say you can eat/not eat after surgery. The only thing that bothers me right now is grease. I lovvvvvvve breakfast sausage and bacon in the morning and I just cut it out due to some terrible attacks. I'm hoping all goes well next month with this surgery. I guess i'm not so worried about what I can eat but I think more people should be worried about there health and changing the way they eat to not be in pain or cause ill effects after the surgery and thats what i'll be focused on.

Has anyone found a doctor willing to do non-surgical treatment of gallstones? I'm thinking of just starting to email/call various clinics or gastroenterologists.

Problems After Gallbladder Removal
I wish I would've done more research before my surgery. I'm 34 and was never one to be very sick for long and have had a c-section with one of my girls. About two years ago I started having wave like pains in my stomach and once or twice had a full day down with pain that to be honest was very strange feeling. The first Dr. I saw did an ultrasound that read no problems so I didn't worry. About several months ago I mentioned it to another Dr. And he said I had ibs and put me on an antiacid.Ibs, are you nuts? I had no problems with the bowels or irratation what so ever. So I find my Dr. Now for a 2nd opinion and she does a hida scan which showed my gallbladder was functioning @ 22% so off to the surgeon for a consultation I go. Well, i'm not much for rushing into surgery and @ this time it's really not that bad and very infrequent so I decide to wait on the surgery. A few months later after a breakfast out I come home and am hit with the most awful pains and bowel movement I could ever imagine which sent me to the er. After pain meds and other cocktails i'm sent home and made the surgery appt. I am told that the surgery has risks but after I should be able to eat what I want and it should take about a week to recover. All sounds pretty good. Two days before surgery I was hit again with awful pain in the pit of my stomach and can't wait to get my gallbladder out! The surgery goes great only took half an hour, and I woke up to eatting crackers and 7-up. The first two days I was in pain and had a reaction to pain med so I didn't take anything. I walked around but found I was very short of breath and couldn't stand, talk, or sit long. Laying down helped. About two weeks I was moving around and in little discomfort when by that weekend I had the severe stomach pain again. I made it through with a pain pill but it's been 7 weeks and everyday I feel sick to my stomach,i constantly feel my stomach. Almost as though it's being squeezed yet bloated @ the same time. It's awful and I never feel good now. My stomach still hurts constantly and I go several days with-out a bowel movement and when I do go,it's several times during the day and filled with bile.I saw my Dr. And had a cat scan done where nothing was found so she put me on all day release acid blocker which doesn't help much. I'm sicker then I have ever been in my life and feel like I now have a chronic illness that runs my life.I have gone from 138 lbs to bordering 100 because I find it hard to eat.I didn't feel this bad till it was removed. I see a gi specialist in a few weeks and I know not every one is the same in experience but i'd love to know if any one had/has this too and if it's ever going to stop? Just do as much research before having any surgery!

Re: Problems After Gallbladder Removal
Hello I had my gb out about 2 weeks ago and I feel great. Your problems I dont belive are from removal of your gb. The gb does nothing for us. It does not help digest food like everyone thinks. 1000 years ago when man only eat 3 times a week the gb did store bile. Us humans have evolve not to use our gb anymore. In fact over 95% of the bile made by our liver everyday does not go into the gb it just passes down into the stomach. This is what 3 surgerns told me.

i feel scared to eat these days my attacks hurt and i'm 7 weeks pregnant which sucks cause I have to make an awful dission either go thru with the pregnancy with eating a no fat or low fat diet and risk my gallbladder blowing up and infection and all the good stuff or have an abotion and have gallbladder surgery. So what is a mom of 2 already to do??

please do not have an abortion thats just not right at all im not trying to make you feel bad but you have to wait untill you have your child posibly anyways just because theres like a 6 month or more waiting list for a glalblader surgery!.. Just stay on that diet you will thank your self for it once you see that little babie in your arms just watching it grow up is way more worth any gallblader surgery!

4 Weeks After Surgery And All Is Well So Far!
Well, after 8 trips to emergency I finally had emergency surgery four weeks ago. The first two weeks were awful; very sore and still was limited to liquids. The only thing good about the liquid diet was I lost 25 pounds in 3 weeks. Anyway, my surgery went well. I have been doing no vacuming, no laundry, and no heavy lifting, and been reasonable with what I eat. I am afraid of even getting heartburn as I spent a solid week throwing up and was so dehydrated I had to be put on intravenus. Hopefully your families will be sympathetic like mine and help you out. The laundry and housework will always be there to do. Just say no and put on blinders till you feel well. People try to be supermoms and dads and just won't admit that they can be all and do all. The stupidest thing I did because I was afraid of losing my job was go back to work 7 days after surgery. Stupid me. I pushed paper for three days and tried to look busy. Too bad society has the you can be replaced attitude. So listen to the doctor and take the time you need to heal and keep your diet fat free for a while. Come on, do you really think you should be eating fried food. Goodluck and hope you all feel better soon.

I am just over 4 wks post surgery now & feeling almost back to normal. I still cant overstretch, as I know my stitches havent fully disolved. That can take upto 8 wks.
Re your bleeding. Maybe something you ate irritated your lower bowel & caused it to bleed for a while, hence the bright red blood?

Two weeks isnt long after surgery & you are bound to feel very tired, weak & sore still. I doubt that you have pulled anything from walking. If you get a fever or the soreness gets worse or doesnt improve then you need to speak to your Dr. Just remember whatever happens. Your health is the most important thing. If you do too much too soon you may regret it

To the person who wrote the long story about there surgery and still suffering,

i am going through the same thing. I had mine removed in march and I am truly regretting it! I am sick everyday to the point of almost vomiting. Haven't yet but very close the last week. I am now having pain under my rib cage that goes between my shoulder blades(which I had before I had my gb removed) that just started this week as well. This is really driving me insane. Why all of a sudden is all of this coming back??!! I am also dizzy and off-balance which has caused me to have some major anxiety attacks.
I am assuming you have been to the Dr. Have you found out anything--what is causing your symptoms? I am curious to know!

Thanks,
donna
