Re: Stomach Pain After Gb Surgery

My daughter has had stomach pain since her gb was removed 4 years ago. We have been to many gi docs and had 2 endoscopies done, hida scan, mri's and no one seemed to know what was going on. I work for a doctor and she gave me the name of a gi doc that she knew and we went to him. He said he thought the sphincter of oddi was disfunctioning, so he sent us to yet another gi specialist. He specializes in the sphincter of oddi. Well we go on friday for yet another hida scan to check the pressure and see if she should have the surgery on the sphincter. She is having pain every morning, between her breast where they removed the gb and passing out every so often, crying and missing work due to this. She is 24 years old and has a very high pain tolerance and won't take any pain meds. I wish I knew what was going on as I feel so helpless. I am ready to take videos and show them the kind of pain she is in. Has onyone else had this problem and what kind of surgery will they do if the pressure is high? Please help we are desperate. She doesn't have a normal life since the gb surgery

Hello, I have this as well. I was advised NOT To have the ERCP done since I have type III and there is a high risk of complication and a low success rate. The things that have helped me the most are acupuncture, a medication called choestyramine, and a pain medication called fentora. Feel free to PM me or ask further questions if you have them. i have done a lot of research on this very frustrating problem.

Gallbladder And Weight
Lately, since my gallbladder has been bothering me I have also been gaining weight. I realize weight gain can make things worse, but can gallbladder problems cause weight gain? I have acid reflux disease and diverticulosis so I try to avoid greasy foods, but still my weight is shooting up.

I feel great!! I was concerned about what it wuld be like after the operation because of things I was reading. I have had NO trouble other than the usual little bits of discomfort for a week or so after the op. Its been two and a half weeks now and am feeling good and can eat anything - expect fried food as I haven't tried. Everyone is different. Dont go by what you read as your body is unique and peoples experinces and reactions are different.
