I always thought he was guilty. A lot of the evidence is cercumstancial but.... This is one thing I caught myself... #1 scott peterson claims that laci was mopping the floors when he left the morning of dec. 24. #2: scott claims laci was using the curling iron on her hair in the bathroom the morning he left. Well, does anyone else see something up with his two little stories!
This is proof enough for me. If you aren't guilty, why plan to flee the country. Here is the story:
when scott peterson was arrested last year on charges of murdering his pregnant wife laci, he claimed to be on his way to the golf course, but according to court documents obtained by court tv, peterson appeared to be preparing for a south-of-the-border escape.
When police arrested peterson in san diego on april 18, 2003, a search of the mercedes benz he was driving resulted in a bevy of evidence, according to a confidential document obtained by court tv's catherine crier.
Many of those items — nearly $15,000 in cash, four cellphones, six credit cards, camping gear — were revealed during a preliminary hearing in peterson's homicide case. And much has been noted about the dark-haired fertilizer salesman's suddenly blond locks and facial hair on the day of his arrest.
But while peterson claims he was seeking refuge from media attention, jurors will have to decide whether a cooking grill and water purifier fit in with that scenario when they hear about the full list from prosecutors.
"this is a guy who was not going to play golf where he was picked up," crier told the today show's katie couric wednesday. "there were no golf clubs in the car. In fact, I think it was pretty clear he was running."
the implements found in the maroon mercedes, according to the document, include foul-weather clothing, a hand shovel, a camping kit, a roll of duct tape, fire starters, approximately a week's worth of clothing, a hammock, a double-edged dagger and numerous other tools that one might use to live off the land, as well as 12 tablets of viagra.
"you don't need a water purifier in san diego—you might if you're going to mexico," crier said.
Scott had also reportedly told a friend earlier that month that his hair had naturally lightened after swimming in a friend's overchlorinated pool, according to the document. But after seeing peterson on tv at the time of his arrest, the friend told police that peterson's hair was noticeably lighter.
Detectives immediately filed a search warrant on peterson, who was being held at stanislaus county jail, requesting body- and pubic-hair samples to determine if those hairs had also been lightened.
Also included in the document: on the morning of peterson's arrest, as investigators followed him from san diego county to los angeles county and back to san diego, he used "counter-surveillance techniques" to try and give them the slip.
His alleged techniques — including swerving across the highway, exiting a freeway off-ramp and then immediately reentering the same freeway — caused investigators to lose his trail on at least two occasions, before they pulled him over at 11:10 a.M.
If convicted of murdering his wife and unborn son, peterson faces the death penalty. His trial is in its seventh week.
