Q: Taking the Combined Oral Contraceptive Pill Late

I have been taking the combined oral contraceptive microgynon 30 for a year and I usually take it at about 10 oclock in the morning. However, last week, I took it at 5 oclock in the evening and then at 5 oclock in the evening the next day aswell. I know that the rule states that if you are late taking a pill but it is within 12 hours of your normal time this is ok, but what about if you do this 2 days in a row? Please reply as im very worried about this!!

Well, I thought it was that if you take it within 12 hours of your normal time, it's not even considered late? I would call your doctor just in case because I really don't know. But I think you're ok.

My doctor said that you're able to take it 12 hours late and that thats not considered late, but it works best if taken in the morning, and is more effective if taken 3hours after "normal time". But the leaflet says that 12 hours is okay, so, I should think it's safe, but i'd make an appointment with the doctor and get him/her to explain it to you.

I take microgynon 30 too and I have never had a problem when taking a late pill, even upto 12 hours late. I wouldn't even consider it late unless it's been more than 12 hours, so try not to worry about it Smile the combined pill is much more effective than the 28 day mini pill, where you have to take it at roughly the same time each day for it to work properly,
