Ok im curious. Ive been getting more contractions (braxtons tho) because they are not painful and they arent close together or anything yet, just more frequent. Anyhow, when do you start timing? I know im not there yet or anything, but I mean do you wait until they are actual painful contractions, or if they are close together could it still be the real thing if they arent painful?

Lol! Sorry I just got on and im trying to catch up on all the posts! Smile

usually mine are very intense and hurt but when I was admitted in the hospital, she told me that even if they arent too painful (but u can definetly tell they're contractions) then u start timing from start to start (start of contraction to the start of the following contraction) just so u know ahead of time if they are regular or not. Then after they get to about 7 minutes apart is when u go to the hospital but the nurse told me its good to time even if they're 20 minutes apart, just to see if they're regular or not Smile

Well mine arent actual contractions yet anyhow. I mean their braxtons, you know, it just gets really tight and balls up for a few. But I was wondering if maybe if it kept doing that reguarlary but wasnt painful at all if it would still be considered contractions. Mine arent regular at all tho yet. But im sure I will know when its the real deal and they will start hurting. Went on another walk tonite, but still nothin*

Hmm they could turn into contractions (becuz the very beginning stage of contractions dont hurt at first, like u can sleep thru em) so it could be that, so its good to time but no matter what they woudl be regular.
Yah I walked a mile again today too.. I hope this works for us!
Whens ur next doc appt?? Are u dilated or anything yet??

My appts are every thursday. He said I had softened and thinned last thursday and he said he was assuming I was somewhat dialiating but that he couldnt get to my cervix to check because it was way too painful for me.. 1) because the babys position and he was so low he said and 2) because I have a tilted uterus and it makes it more difficult to check. But next time (this thurs) im sure he will be able to and no matter how much it hurts I will try and bare with it!

Hey kari! Contractions dont have to be regular or painful to be "contractions"! Those irregular, painless ones are doing something to your body! Thats what makes you thin out and your cervix get soft! Like for example....When they induce you (if you have to get induced!) they will start you out with just a little bit of pitocin/oxytocin and that will start some kind of contractions....At first they will be painless but they are still working! So just think of it this way....Every time you have one of those little painless things you are that much closer to getting into a regular contraction pattern and thats when it gets fun...Haha! You're body will tell you when its time and you'll probably just "know" you should start timing them! Hopefully that helps and I didnt just insult your intelligence...Sorry if it was useless info! Talk to you soon!
