How much should a baby be eating at 5 weeks? Rylee is taking 3 1/2 ounces but lately she has still been acting hungry after some feedings but not all. My sister-in-law said she was suprised that she was even taking 3 1/2 oz. Let alone more so now i'm worried that i'm feeding her too much. She said that her daughter was just moving up to 3 oz. At a month. Rylee was a month old on sunday and it seems like she'll be at 4 oz. Pretty soon. Any thoughts?

Ok well are you feeding her breast milk or formula? Babies that are breast fed eat more but even if she is on formula, its ok. All babies r different. Ignore the books and others advice on how much she should or shouldnt be eating. She has a good appetite thats all. Whenever she is hungry feed her. Just make sure u burp her after every 2 ounces so she doesnt get all gassy or an upset stomach. When I used to work at this daycare, we had some parents who like only allowed their babies 4 ounces every 4 hours or so and I could do nothing about it because I had to follow rules. Like I said before whenever she is hungry, feed her shes knows her body and what she can handle. U are doing nothing wrong. If u still seem nervous, talk to her pediatrician. He/she will tell u the same that all babies r different. But giving her what she wants wont hurt her. ~ erica.

She is on the bottle. I had to stop breastfeeding because off all the medication I have to take due to the eclampsia. I take her to the doctor on monday so I guess i'll wait and see how much weight she has gained and if it's a lot i'll ask them about it. Thanks for responding!

No prob. Dont worry about it, shes all good lol. I liked what u posted about ur situation. Ive been getting worried about myself. Aside from weight gain, I have the bad swelling of my legs and ankels which get blown off by my doc and I always suffer from migranes and my doc said to see a neurologist but I didnt and the other day I got real dizzy while sitting at my desk and like broke out in a sweat. I dont know what to think I guess they could be normal preggy symptoms lol this is all new to me ya know. I see my doc on tues the 13 ill be 34 weeks by then and then I start going once a week. Yay!! Oh yeah I just noticed that ur from raleigh n.C my aunt used to live there and now shes in fuquay varina. I visited her in jan of 2003 I love it there. Its very pretty. Lol do u have a southern accent? No offense!! Laughing ~ erica.

I would say bump her up to 4 oz. I think its pretty safe to say that she won't get "overfed" babies know when to stop eating.. Just make sure and burp her often... If she is spitting up alot than she is probably getting to much. But of course always best to ask the doctor what they think!

I'm originally from georgia (well actually I was born in omaha, nebraska but i've lived in georgia most of my life) so yes I have a real southern accent. It is really pretty here but we're moving back to georgia on july 17th so we can be close to our family. I can't wait! Be sure that your doctor knows about your symptoms and if they get worse please don't let them ignore it. You're almost there! Are you getting excited???

Hey hun river was the same way! He is now on 6-7 oz! He started out at 4oz but seemed still hungry so I fed him more and he would eat about 2 more oz!!! U couldnt tell tho he is still so tiny!Lol!! Every baby is diff! And a lot of the times the docs dont remeber that!! So if shes still hungry go ahead and feed her somemore until shes hungry dont worry unless she is hungry like an hour after then I would worry but if she waits 3 hours after then shes fine!

Trust me hun.....She is fine....Bye 5 weeks josh was already eating 6 oz.....Lol. Babyies have the ability to self regulate ho much they eat. They stop eating when they are full.....Simple as that.
