I wanted to tell you about my pregnancies just in case any of you girls are going through the same things I experianced.

My first pregnancy started when I was 18 years old. I found out b/c I was extremely late... I took a test, not thinking it would come back positive and after just seconds I got a strong clear line. I was still in disbelief and thats when I went to the walk in clinic and had them do a test... The nurse walked in and said "congradulations! Your pregnant!" I just looked at her like "excuse me?!" I left there in complete disbelief and had no idea how I was going to tell my mom.

I cried... Called my friends on the cell phone, had them meet me at my moms house and called my mom and said "we need to talk" I went home where I found my mom and my grandmother (eek!) both waiting to hear what I had to say... I simply got home.. Had my friends there.. And told them I was pregnant... They both immediatly jumped on me to give the baby up, asking a million questions about the father, what I was going to do... My mom was very very upset.. She cried and I felt horrible.

Things were wierd for a while.> I started getting extreme morning sickness. I threw up everything all day long.. I lost 17 pounds.. No matter how much I ate I would just throw it up.

The pregnancy was normal other than that. Well until I went in for my glucose test at 28 weeks... It came back with border line levels, I went back in for a 3 hour test and sure enough.. It came back positive.. I had gestational diabeties... I was soon sent to a high risk ob where I was then put on bi-weekly monitoring (including a biophysical profile a.K.A. Ultrasound) and then I was put on a strict diet and sent to a diatician.
I was also told I had to prick my finger four times a day to monitor my blood sugar levels.

So needless to say I was not happy about it but I did it. The diet worked for about 2 weeks but them my sugars started creeping back up.. And I was put on insulin shots (i had to give myself a shot every night) that was not fun, I was terrified of needles. I got used it... I was going to see the specialist and going to see my regular ob... My doctor then decided to induce me at 38 weeks, as with gestational diabeties they are concerned about the size of the baby.

I arrived at the hosptial... Checked in and hooked up where they found out I was having contractions every 5 minutes and I was dialated to 2 1/2 cm!!! I wasn't even feeling contractions! So instead of inducing they decided to monitor me over night and then just giving me some pictocin in the morning to speed things along... I tried sleeping but couldn't, I was way to excited!

At 4am they came in my room and started the pictocin drop (pictocin is a drug that makes contractions stronger and most of the times much more painful)

when they checked me agian I was 4 cm dialated and 80% effaced but baby was still high in the birth canal.

At that time they offered me an epidural, though my contractions weren't terrible.. I could barely feel them... I went ahead with the epidural.

After a couple more hours I was checked agian and was at 6cm but continued to stay at that for the next few hours.

I wasn't feeling the contractions much at all by this point! Epidurals are amazing!
My doctor threatened me with a c-sect if I didn't dialate more... And so I was determined.. I made my bed where it was sitting straight up.. Hoping to put more pressure on my cervix and it worked! The next time I was checked I was at 10 and ready to start pushing!

They got me set up and just 4 pushes later... My son was born!!!!!!!!
It was the most amazing thing.. My son was sooooo beautiful at birth.. Just amazing. I feel in love immediatly.

They let me hold him for a little while.. Then they cleaned him up and took him to the nursery and gave him some sugar solution b/c his sugars had dropped alittle. They then let me nurse him and helped me get him latched on.

It was amazing!

My daughter was a whole diffrent pregnancy! With her it was the same shock finding out.. But went over alot easier when telling the family.

With her I was also diagnoised with gestional diabeties, only I was put on 2 shots of insulin a day and monitored every week instead of every other week.

At 38 weeks I went in for an ultrasound to see how big she was, to make sure she wasn't to big and they measured her about 9pounds 6ounces...

That was a cause for concern and my doctor said he would not let me deliever vaginaly and scheduled me a c-sect... I went in for the c-sect and came out with a 10pound 8ounce baby girl!!!!!!! Crazy huh?

She was a very large child!

She was extremely healthy though..

The c-sect wasnt as scary as I thought.. I got my epidural, they wheeled me back to surgery strapped me up and got my husband in there and with in minutes they had her out! It was crazy! I was in and out of there with in an hour and back in recovery where they brought me the baby to nurse.. Which she latched on like a pro!

If you have any questions about either of my deliveries feel free to ask, I will be happy to answer those!

Hey
Wow. I have a friend who had the same things occur during her pregnancy like in your 1st one! At school she'd have to eat adn then prick her finger to test her sugar and stuff. I'm glad both went pretty well though! And you seem to have a good support system around you!
Love,
