Q: Broken Vertabrate

My friend was in a car accident and doctors said she has a broken vertabrate and may not walk again. When my daughter was 4 (1978) she broke a vertabrate but was able to walk. My friend is in her early 30's. Is the issue of whether she may walk again due to the age difference or due to which vertabrate was broken?

Vertebral Fractures...
The only reason a person would not be able to walk again after a vertebral fracture is if the bone fragments are sticking into the spinal cord causing paralysis. If your friend can move her legs, she will probably walk again. If not, and if there are no surgical options such as surgical exploration and fusion, then perhaps her doctors are correct.

not really! If i 'managed' to fracture T11 and T12 as well as partially crushing L1 in late January would you say that it is alright to play rugby now??? bearing in mind my muscles are considerably weaker and i spent 3 and a half months in bed after the accident?
