Hi,
i have a question about anxiety and teeth. I was wondering if anybody knows if anxiety can play a part in a person getting cavities or having dental problems. Question I seem to be getting cavities in my mouth even though I take the extra time to make sure that I clean them good. I have been under alot of stress lately and I just somehow think that this must depleting my body of calcium and other vitiamins plus I get ibs if I get nervous or upset about anything. What do you think?

Extremely eHealthy
Yes
A lot of people grind their teeth at night, causing mouth and teeth problems a lot of dentists can fit you with a night guard, if this is the problem.
Sincerely,
sandy

Hi,
thanks for answering my post. I do not grind my teeth so that can't be my problem. What I am wanting to know if stress can play a part in a person developing cavities in your mouth? Seems like stress can affect your health in so many ways. Why can't it cause you to get cavities? I think somehow it has played a part in my problems with my teeth.

I don't think stress plays a part in causing cavities but i'm not a dentist. I agree with sandy about grinding your teeth and a mouth guard though. Most people that grind their teeth have no idea they are doing it. I did this and a mouth guard really helped a lot.

How's Your Stomach?
Acid reflux can cause some erosion of tooth enamel, but not cavities. That's the only thing I could think of that might be related.
