..K, well i'd like to lose about 40 pounds. And im not really sure how to go about it. I start on what I call a 'diet' (heardly eating, and only healthy) and I can't stay on it for too long because I have no will power after awhile. Has any of you ever started something that proved to work miracles? I am so clueless when it comes to this, that I need specific foods that I can eat, and specific exercises to do, otherwise i'll give up. How about some of thise diet pills? Are they good for anything? I know that it will take awhile to finally get down to the weight I want to be at, but I think that if I find some way to go about doing it that I can stick with it, and hopefully reach my goal!

You need a weight loss buddy to keep you motivated. My sister and I both took a high impact arobics class together to keep us motivated. I felt great, and lost weight. Try finding a weight loss buddy. Good luck!! Once you start getting results, that lone is motivation. But its hard to have the motivation to get to that point!

What about something like pilates? If I went out and bought some tapes or something? Does that work to burn fat, lose weight, and tone your body? Or would that be a waste of my money?

Actually I heard that pilates are the best. I havent taken them but I want to. Try that and a healthy diet, or diet shakes. I excersized and took shakes with a small dinner and I was doing really good, then I met jose! Lol and gained it all back! I did this all by myself because my family was lazy

Ok, my hubby lost 50 pounds in 4 months counting calories. He counted calories, but you don't have to. If you just do what you're doing now, but cut out a few key things, you will see a difference. You have to cut thiese things out for life though. That doesn't mean no cheating, it means you can't have them everyday. Here are some good things to start with cutting out of your diet:

1) cokes of any kind. Caffeine still makes you not burn fat, so the only safe coke is diet sprite! Ugh!
2) candy
3) fast food
4) butter and fried food
5) pizza
6) other obvious bad-for-you food

remember, the best way to lose weight is to change your eating habits for life. And also its good to cheat every once in a while. It prevents binging and prevents you getting off your diet!

Im not one to believe in real dieting. Ive had an eating disorder for yrs so I know how to lose the weight, but the only way to lose it for good is to change your lifestyle for good, not just a diet for a while. First off dont cut your calories any lower then 1,500 if you count because it will only slow your metabolism. 1,500 cals a day is a diet and u can lose weight steadily, kinda slowly but permanetly. Dont ever completely cut out any food. Depriving yourself will only lead to 'cheating' bingeing, and losing willpower. Instead, limit the amount and limit how often but do allow yourself those sweets etc you might crave. Overall eating a high protein low fat diet can be very helpful ive found. Some fat however is a must in order to lose weight surprisingly. If u look online you can find some healthy guidelines. Choose lean meats (if u eat meat) such as chicken without the skin etc or fish. Eating a lot of vegetables and fiber will help too because they fill you up. Also, if you eat smaller meals more frequently it will help keep your metabolism moving faster rather then eating 3 big meals...Try not to fill up on empty cals like soda, candy and sugars as much as possible. And in order to lose weight and look good, excersize is a must** just make sure your eating enough calories while exersizing otherwise you will burn muscle, not fat. Pilates I hear is very good, and relaxing. Ive never tried it but would like to. But incorporating some type of aerobics every week sometimes can be very effective. Lol I blab, this is my subject. Anyhow, goodluck and please do it healthily*

I don't understand why people only diet and don't exercise. I realize that in order to really lose weight you have to cut calories but you wouldn't starve yourself if you worked out. That's why I could never lose weight. I'm so lazy and I hate exercising... Ahh what a cruel world it is.

I'd rather be fat because everything you mentioned in that post is my whole diet!

I totally agree with kari, and in fact sometimes it makes me angry when people think they can diet for a bit, loose some weight, stop dieting, and then they expect not to gain it back, but what will really happen is that you usually gain it all back and plus some. Also, it was researched and people that diet while they are a teen, are more likely to be obese when they are adults ( they are talking with fad diets, where they diet for a bit and then quit, diet some more, quit again, it really messes with your metabolism)... The idea is to change your eating habits for good (make sure they are good eating habits, getting everything you need, and eating the amount your body needs) and excersising regularily, but you cant stop and expect to keep the weight off. You dont have to go on a diet, you need to change your diet. I heard pilates is really good, my mom has some tapes and loves it! I want to try pilates, but im gonna wait for my mom to give me some tapes, which she will probably do when I want to loose pregnancy fat.

Well I went on the master cleanse. It is not really a diet, it is supposed to clease your body of toxins. It's an all liquid diet (basically a special lemonade) and you have to atleast be on it for 10 days. I tried like 4 times ,and I couldn't really do it. But the last time I went through will all 10 days. I lost about 23 lbs. Now I can't tell you if it was all water weight, waste, fat or a combo ,but by the bathroom scale I lost 23 lbs. The first few days you may feel hungry ,but your body will get used to it and the felling will go away. There is a book on it ,but don't go and buy it. If you've got the will power to do a search for the book and 20 minutes to spare ,you should find the whole original book online. Ohh and one more thing you may lose more or less than I did. I think that you could lose more if you are a meat eater b/c you may have more waste to get rid of. But I am a vegetarian.
