Hello.

Recently I have noticed a change in bowel habits. First diarrhea, alternating with constipation.

I went to the doctor on thursday, and she did an abdominal exam. She said I have a "mass" right where my sigmoid colon is. I also have a dull heavy pain there, that comes and goes, and is usually relieved with a bowel movement. (but then it comes back.)

i am only 26 years old and am afraid I have colon cancer.

I have been reading on the internet that pain in this area could signify diverticulitis.

The pain is not severe, it comes and goes, usually in waves, but it's a dull, heavy feeling.

Of course I am going to have tests done, ct scan.

Any opinions?

Colon / Diverticulitis
Could be diverticulitis. I had the same problems. Eventually infection set in and caused a fistula between the sigmoid colon & the bladder. Was not too much fun having your digestive gases enter the bladder. I suggest you eat sufficient fibre & possibly a colon cleanse and see what it does for you. You don't want it to get too far.

Please get back with more details of the scan/mri. Homeopathic medicine has good remedies to get rid of amoebiasis, ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome etc.If any.

sigmoid colon pain
Lovely. I have the same problem - pain in the lower left quadrant (that comes and goes but is not relieved by a bowel movement); diarrhea (almost daily....and sometimes horribly after exercise).
