I am a 22 year old male and for all my life I have had morning nausea. Hard to believable, until a few days ago when I mentioned it in conversation, I have always thought everyone felt this way in the mornings. Any ideas why I feel sick in the mornings?? I am physically fit and just left the marines so I dont think it could be too serious not to show up. Any help would be appreciated.

Could it be nerves?

When I was younger I used to get an upset stomach most days because I was shy and so nervous about going to school.

Maybe there is extra stress in your life that you may need to look at different ways of dealing with?

Just a suggestion..

Wow thats me as well. I am 22 male and when I wake up I normally get nausea and about half the time I end up being sick. Normally it goes away around lunch time. Mine is absolutely not stress or nerves. I am going to see if a doc can figure it out. I'll post here with findings

What do you two eat before bed time? How many hours before you fall asleep? How large is the portion?

How well do you sleep? Do you have difficulty falling asleep or sleep light?

I will make an assumption that the both of you are underweight, or borderline of weight. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Morning Sickness
Have exactly the same problem, with all the symptoms. Really want to know what it is...
Usually get a sandwich before I go to bed. Do a lot of sports and yes, my weight is on the limit. I watch it very carefully, and have absolutely no fat. Also usually (now less though) get upset stomach for a few hours in the mornings...

I thought id add to the list of guys with troubles. Im 17 and have this same problem. Every morning I woke up I would get a seriously painful stomach pain that took some time to go away. Not a few hours, but for me it was painful enough to stop me from thinking at all. Lately I have had less of that. I have been getting more sleep, and I make sure to eat something very quickly after waking up, and any morning im hesitant to eat/wake up earlier than normal it hurts. I have no idea if both of those are even related, but I think you can say your not alone.

Coming from a first-aider... I think it could be habits of eating... If you eat before bedtime.. Ur stomach has to do a lot more work to digest it when ur body is getting ready to rest... So that can cause sickness in the morning..

If you don't eat at night and still feel nauseated... It could just be stomach acid.. Try drinking a glass or 2 of water before u eat breakfast... Or if u don't eat breakfast.. U should start now... It's stomach acid problems.. Though i'm not a guy.. But thats what I had for a while...

Hope this helps =)

Hi there, very interesting.

I'm 25 and i've suffered this for 5 years!!!!!!!

Anyone know anything more about it? Trouble is it's never around long enough for me to do anything serious about it. I have attributed it to stressful times make me feel very bilious in the morning time, sometimes i'm sick (just acid) then I cant eat until lunch time. Some mornings I won't eat til lunchtime. It's really strange.

Mornings when I don't have things on my mind, or things that worry me that day i'm fine but if there is something that day that is worrying me it makes my stomach in the morning so bad. Never any pain, just bloated acidic feeling. Eating indigestion tablets usually makes me feel even sicker.

Anyone got any more ideas or advice?!?!?

Cheers.

24yr Old Male
Hi guys, I seem to be having the same issue. Every morning I wake up feeling really sick to my stomach. Feels like I want to puke and also having stomach gas. I know i'm a little over weight and really noticed this problem when I started a new job which I had to wake extra early to attend. I've always been having this morning sickness and it goes away roughly around lunch time. I've tried even not eating 5 hours before I sleep and that doesn't seem to change anything. This is starting to become a problem since i've been calling in sick a few times at the beggining of my shift. Did a search on the net and found this forum. When I wake up in the morning, I usualy don't have a breakfast untill I get to work. I'm starting to have a breakfast every morning but I fear that I will vomit it out when I get to work.

Not Sick Today!!
Just wanted to post that today I woke up not feeling sick at all. The only thing I have done different is last night I woke up around 11:30pm and had me a cup of milk and a slice of toast with penut butter on it. When I woke up, I had cereal and out the door I went to work. I'm not feeling sick at all today. Maybe this information can help others. Let me know if it does.

Fadi,

you need to take a look at your lifestyle.

Since my post above I went to the doctors and asked to be put on anti depressants to control my anxiety and stress levels. Since i've been on them i've noticed a definate 'calming down' of my symptoms. They've not completely gone but at least I now know that the cause of my morning nausea was being faced with events that day that would cause me stress.

I'm on fluoextine at the moment (20mg a day) and I also have lanzoprazole which is stomach acid meds for when I can feel my stomach getting bad.

I think you need to analyse the stress levels in your new job, sometimes it's hard to believe or feel that you're stressed and in most cases you don't notice it until it manifests itself as something physical like what we're experiencing.

But you're not alone in what you're suffering. I would also advise you to go to the doctors and get a quick blood test done for helicobacter pylori which is bacteria that sits in the stomach and causes excess stomach acid, it's also knows to cause ulcers. There is antibiotics you can take to clear this up if this is the case but it's best to get that out the way before you go down the anti depressant route.

Morning Stomach
I have the same morning stomach pain I am in the military im 24 years old and I think im in shape. Every morning I have to wake up early and I have this sick have to go to the bathroom feeling but between 8 or 10 o'clock its gone. I have went to the doctor for this I had a upper and lower gi plus a full colonoscopy. They found nothing but a little esophogitis and gastritis both caused from my allergies I was treated for that and given zantac and I was given a antibiotic for h. Pylori. Neither has cured the morning sickness. What the hell im tired of being sick in the morning. What causes this.

Me Too
Hey guys, I have been having the same thing on and off for 2 years now. I feel like it comes in waves. It will go away for a couple weeks, but than comes back in full force. The times that is it around, i'll wake up between 8-9am because of the stomach nausea, its almost like its on a alarm and knows its 8am. I noticed that if I remain laying down it only gets worse and worse until I get up and start moving, then it slowly starts going away (i dont know if thats because I get distracted by my activities or....)

i also have been a heavy marijuana smoker on and off for the last 5 years. I try not to use it as a solution but it immediatly takes away the nausea and allows me to get back to sleep. A week ago I decided to quit smoking weed, and have decreased my usage dramaticaly, but its hard because then my stomach really gives me a run for my money. My appetite also dwindles to almost nothing.

I'm a 22 yr. Old male, and my eating habits are somewhat irregular. I'm 5'8" 160 lbs, my weight is right where I should be. My exercise has been lacking lately, but I still am in better shape then most people. I do not believe its stress related. If anything I have a problem with not stressing. I have been making an effort for the last few months to eat a balanced diet, and have been taking multi-vitamins. I have not noticed anything different in my morning nausea though. I have mentioned my problem to the doctor during my physical, but he did not seem to be alarmed by it. I'm concerned about it though, its making me miserable.

I am an 18 year old male and i have the same problem. Ever since i was a child i have been very sickly. I have had GERD as well. But almost every morning i wake up and have extreme nausea. I have gone to doctors and they have told me that they would have to run tests, which i can not afford. Anyone got the same symptoms?

Alright, I possibly have a solution for you all or some of you. I've been doing some research on the internet and I've found many studies on the effects of marijuana use. There is a condition called "Cannabinoid Hyperemesis" that causes morning vomiting. It was discovered in Australia, and it is hard for doctors to figure out the problem, which would explain why going to the doctors didn't help any of you. Look up the condition on the net if you want to learn more, but for any of you that are using marijuana this is most likely the answer you've been looking for. I hope this at least helps someone on here.
