Why is it that everytime I go to my doc about a problem then it automaticaly gets blamed on stress and anxiety? One week i'll feel week and have vomiting, i'll go to the doc and its the same answer you need to lower your stress and anxiety level? It seems to me nowadays, doctors try to find the quickest solution to your problem. I've been suffering from gad, ibs, depression, gerd and whatever quick answer the docs can give me for 4 yrs now. And lately its been making me so depressed because it seems like none of its getting any better!!! I've been to many doctors and they seem concerned at first but as soon as they hear a hint that i've been diag with anxiety before its like boom, "dont worry its just anxiety". Any new symptoms or problems I have automaticaly relates to that. Whats a person suppose to do? Anyhow this is not really a question, just venting my anger. But replies will be appreciated.

I agree most doctors today do seem to want to get you out of their office as quickly as they can. What bothers me is when they say it's just anxiety and don't help you learn how to get rid of it. I was convinced I had just about every serious ailment under the sun for many years. I eventually learned it had little to do with the symptoms and everything to do with the way I was thinking about the symptoms. Cbt has since changed my life. It's all about using the tools to learn to think more clearly and accurately about things and once you do your depression will miraculously begin to lift before your eyes. My favorite starter book on cbt is "been there, done that? Do this! By sam obitz. You may want to call the university in your area too as many offer cbt programs or groups for little or no charge.

My doctors were horrible to. None of them even mentioned cbt to me and it was what saved me. You may want to try and get into a cbt group or read some books on it because it really works if you use the tools. The two books we used in my group are really good and I would recommend them both highly: been there, done that? Do this! By sam obitz for anxiety and depression and mastery of your anxiety and panic-third edition by michelle craske and david barlow for panic disorder.
