Q: Does My Grandfather Have Alzheimer's?

My grandfather is normally an eccentric man, but over the past few years, he will fly off the handle for minor things. He screams and yells at family members, to the point where they fear for their safety. An hour later, he seems to have completely forgotten the incident and acts normally. It's tearing my family apart. My grandmother rotates living at other peoples' homes because she can't handle living with him anymore. We have approached him about seeking help, which resulted in a very unpleasant confrontation.

He is obviously not well but he refuses to accept help. Is it possible he suffers from alzheimer's? Any suggestion of how to proceed?

I agree that he has a psychical problem that could be related to an organic brain disorder (demention). It could be any type of demention, not only Alzhaimer's, like senile or maybe atherosclerotic demention.

Can you tell me his age?

Does he suffer from any cardio-vascular disorders?
