Ok so heres the story.....
A few weeks ago the australian government released its budget for the 2004-2005 finantual year...... In it was a baby bonus sceam..... For every baby born after july 1st the government is going to pay a non means tested baby bonus of $3000...... The normal amount that is in place till tomorrowi s $890, payed regardless of income right after the baby is born.
Now the 30th june only has 40 minutes left in it as I write this so there will be a lot of happy preggers and over due preggers come tomorrow morning....... But there are women who are well past their due dates that are putting off induction and c sections till after midnight..... I think it is crazy...... $3000 or a healthy baby????? What would you chose????
Oh the sceam goes like this.....
Born after 1 july 2004 = $3000
born after 1 july 2005 =$4000
born after 1 july 2006 = $6000 and there it remains.
But I do love our government so...... Hehehe.... They dont call us the lucky country for nothing...... As well as that sceam in a vote grabbing bid every one that was intitled to family tax benifit part a when the budget was announced got $600 per child as a lump sum payment.... So I got $1200 last week, and every one gets it again in september........ And in a few hours I can claim again for this finantual year for the baby bonus that was announced just b4 I had cailey.... $500 a year till she is 5.
I may sound greedy but its great cause it helps heaps because I just got so many bills in its not funny and there is nothing like free cash..............
But there is a small problem with all these incentives........ How many ppl are just going to have kids for the money????? It will be like" this is my son/daughter...... Daddy/mummy's little tax break!!!!!""

You should take a look at america's welfare system!! You get more money per kid and so there are tons of families out there with 8 kids just because their welfare check is bigger. They don't realize that a kid is going to cost you alot more than the difference in your welfare check! Its terrible.

Buyer Beware
I say dont take that money, bush did some kinda crap like that last year and it was like an advance on your income tax and you had to pay it back when your real income tax check came.

Erin, welfare has changed, its $300 something while pregnant, and $568 after the baby is born, and that is all you get, no matter how many kids you have. They do not raise the amount you receave if you have more children. If you have one, its $568, then you have another one, its still $568, and the same with third, fourth, fifth ect.! And once you have been on it for 5 years, it drops back down to $300 something, and that is all you will ever get, no matter how many children you have. They started that because of all these stupid woman popping one baby out after the other just to get more money!!!! Its about time they put a stop to that!

Here in ohio the welfare for the mom is 223.00 a month. Yo have to be in your third trimester. Then when baby gets here its 317.00 a month. The thing is you have to work 40 hours a week at the business workforce and they tell you what you can cant do and you pick it. 160 hours a month for only 223.00 a month. It is so not even worth it. I am on it cause I am not allowed to work I am high risk for pregnancy induced hypertension. My bp goes up like mad if I stand for an hour straight. So dac has me on mdified bed rest. That is the only reason I get it and I still have to do work just reading and reports. Last week I had to watch labor of love and do a 5 page report. I get 6 weeks after I have the baby and then I am getting a job. Just not doing 160hrs for only 223.00 a month and 317.00 with baby here.
Lots of love,
heather and hayley

Wahh, that sucks!!! Its easier here! You just gotta be pregnant, or have a child under the age of 5 and eather not working, or low income, and you can get it. And its a lot more here then there. Wow, that sucks!!
