Hi. I've had fluorosis on one of one of my front teeth now for as long as I can remember. I think I got it when I was a child and foolishly decided to leave toothpaste on my teeth overnight in the hope that it would stop my gums bleeding (never do this!!! - it doesnt work!). It takes up about 20% of the tooth surface and i'm getting quite self-concious about it, and its come to the point where I try not to smile because of the fear people will remark about it. A couple of years ago my dentist told me I could get a porcelain veneer for it, but they are expensive and require maintenance. I was just wondering what are the other options available? Btw does using a flouride free toothpaste help get rid of the fluorosis?

Fluorosis
Hi
sorry ,but fluorosis will not go away. You can try to whiten it,but, that may make it more obvious.A porcelain veneer would be your best choice. They are expensive, but can last many years.A composite resin (tooth colored filling )might be an option, these discolor over time and don't look as good as veneers.Save your money or see if your dentist
does offer a low rate loan designed for dental treatment. Many dentists do.
Good luck!!
