I have this weird thing with my lips where about once every 2 weeks or so, they become really itchy and irritated and I can't help but pinch or scratch them and then they end up all chapped. I don't know if they're cold sores because i've seen pictures and my lips don't look as serious as them. Is there anything that I should apply on them or do? Please help!

What sort of creams/ointment/lipbalm/lipstick do you use on them now?

You say once every 2 weeks or so, how long does it last each time or do you just get it & then it finally gets better to just start all over again??Or does it happen say when you ovulate & then again at start of period (if you're male sorry & ignore this question!!)

is there anything you do (swimming) or eat(lemons) or anywhere you go (bushwalking)about the time it starts??

You could try vaseline, using lip balm all(repeat all not just when your lips are bad) the time. Not eating acidic foods (tomato, lemon, orange, pineaplle etc).

If it turns out to be very bad chapping, then I highly recommend kiehl's lip balm. And like the person above me said, use it all the time, and i'd recommend leaving it on overnight.

- hey, thanks for replying so fast, I use a whole range of stuff including blistex and burt's beeswax. The thing is that after my lips get chapped and heal up a bit I massage my lips with blistex revitalizer (the stuff in the purple tube), which works great and the dry skin peels off and then i'll have perfect soft, non-itchy lips for just a few days and then they'll start to itch and get irritated again. There are no visible cold sores but i'd feel like 2 or 3 soft bumps around the edges of my lips that are sooooo itchy that I can't help but pick or scratch my lips. Afer the itching stop because I scratch/pick my lips they get really chapped overnight and then they heal after I rub stuff on it and then so on ... Please help! Thanks alot! It doesn't really have a connection w/my period it just happens in a routine basis.

"or do you just get it & then it finally gets better to just start all over again??" < yeah something like that

Reading this I wonder if maybe there's an element of allergy/allergic reaction in this?? The itchiness sounds like that.

Another thought just occurred - don't be offended or upset but could it be an std - from intimacy with someone with something other than simple cold sores?? If you haven't seen a dr maybe you should just to rule out this & allergies.

I have this problem, try Palmer's cocoa butter formula. It's the swivel stick, it's amazing it helps me from going crazy with the itching. Neosporin helps too. Good luck
