Hello, im new here. In the bed recuperating I thought I see if there were forums for my new life. I am not sure how I feel about it yet. The surgery went well. I was in the hospital for 5 days (including the day of surgery). My 14 vertical aligned staples were removed 2 days later and now I have steri strips. I was instructed not to get my incision wet so I tie a drycleaning plasticbag around my swollen waist. It itches like I want to take a brillo pad to it to scratch it (smile), I just pat it lightly. I have no bleeding and have not worn a pad since my discharge from the hospital. Thats cool because I had heavy and frequent cycles in addition to fibroids and tumors. The final decision however, was the mild dysplasia and the clots I was having the morning I was dressing to go in for my surgery. Up until that day I could have just had the fibroids and tumor removed and have my cervix frozen. I am 43 with 3 children and had no desire for more children so to keep my uterus was pointless. However, I was reluctant as I felt complete with all my "parts". The dr prescribed me the estradiol patch but I have not worn it, I do get hot flashes but no more than prior to my surgery. Although it has been about 2 weeks today, when can I estimate my bloated tummy to go down? Should I experience weight gain or loss ( loss hopefully). I try to be a positive person and look forward to great intimacy once I am fully healed.

Hi
Hi,
it will get better, I had partial hysto about 4 months ago, my sex life is okay, it would be better if I didnt have 30 extra pounds added on after my surgery!!! I have tried to lose the weight but I havent been able to, I dont know if its just me being inactive or just because of the surgery, the weight is all in my tummy area, but I do feel much better without the pain I had from the incision and from the cyst and fibroids that I had, I dont miss all that, but I do not like this weight gain one bit, other than the weight gain I feel great!

Good luck
pat

6week Check Up
Hi all, I hope you are all recovering and doing well. I had my surgery on 6/11/04 and my return date was to be 07/24. At my 6 week my doctor extended it to 8/09. My incision was infected right under my belly button ( I knew this and was using peroxide and neosporin, until I saw my doc) she has put me on keflex. Aside from the infection ,some days I feel great and some not so good. For the last 2 days I have been laying down as if I just had surgery, my lower back feels like I am carrying a weight in it. It hurts pretty bad. I go back again 8-2 to see the status of my disability/recovery. I will keep you updated.

Well I was released to return to work on 8/9/04. My first week was so tiring. I work a 9-5 m-f job and left early each day. I think the sitting straight up in my office chair is killing me. When I go to stand up I practically roll myself up to a standing position. I hope it gets better!
