Q: Dry Skin On Earlobes?

Before I got the second set of holes in my earlobes(i've had the first set for nearly 8 years), I noticed that the front of them would all of a sudden, get very dry skin (or something that looked like dry skin). I would pick off the patches, expecting just dead skin, but it would hurt very much and leave red, sore spots that would eventually form a scab and heal. That was about 6 months ago. Now that i've gotten my second set of holes, the backs of my earlobes seem to have these scabs of yellow..Crust, for lack of a better word, and it looks like a thin layer of skin has come off, still leaving a red, sometimes bloody spot right beside the hole, and it's only happening around the older piercings! Can someone help me shed some light as to what might be happening here?

Ummm sounds like maybe it got infected and then dries up and heals and the dry yellow crust is when its healing, how many piercings do you have in one earlobe? I dont think you should have alot in one ear but I know many folks who do and its fine but always clean with somthing antibacterial just incase and maybe apply some parrifin creme to the area to soothe it.

Dry Skin On Ear Lobes.......
You could be suffering form contact dermatitis due to allergy to the ornaments you are wearing on the earlobe. It tends to appear as a red, fine eruption, with itching leaves an area of rawness with exfoliation of skin from the area. It could be just eczema too if you are not wearing any ornaments. Homeopathic medicine has good remedies like hep sulph, merc, silicea, thuja, caladium to get rid of this condition and give you liberty to wear any kind of ornaments by preventing further allergy.
