Has anyone used alesse? If so, do you like it? Side affects?

My doctor just changed me from tri cyclen to alesse because I had no sex drive....

*crosses fingers* lets hope it does the trick

My Alesse Experience
I was ortho-tricylen for years. Been on alesse for about a year now. Its not bad; my periods got very lite though and only lasted 2-3 days (not an awful thing). I also would have my period as due for 2 months, skip a month. Now however I have not had one in 3 months. Not pregnant though! Kind of nice to go w/o one but I have the the back pain each month regardless. Thats the not so great part. I have today however called my dr office since this is the week I should've started just to make sure there isnt anything to worry about.
But overall side effects to the bad--none.
Good luck.

Not to scare or discourage you...

I was on alesse before moving to yasmin. Alesse killed my sex drive. Its not much better with yasmin.

I talked to my gyno about it. She said that the hormones in bcps decrease the amount of testosterone in your system. The testosterone is what makes you have a sex drive...So it doesn't matter which bcps I take, or someone takes...The bcp hormones kill the chances...

Sorry...

Hey lilgothchick,
all birth control pills do different things to different users. For example scubaduba, just said that she has problems with her sex drive when using yasmin, I myself am on yasmin, and do not have that problem at all, it's kind of like the opposite, I don't know maybe its because I now can have unprotected sex! Laughing ...Lol!!!.... Don't think i'm crazy me and my boyfriend have been together for almost two years and we are practically engaged. So like I said before, no matter what people tell you, you won't know which one works for you until you try it. I know that sucks, but that's just the way it is.

I'm about to start the sugar pills on my first pack of alesse ever. I am absolutely horrible with pills, I get all the side effects and have had bad experiences with medication.

But alesse has been extremely good for me. First night I started, I started my period. I usually get extremely sick on my first night and don't sleep what so ever. First night I took the pill I slept and I wasn't sick like I usually am. I've been having light bleeding ever since and a few other minor aches. It's been great for me so far, and I expected a lot worse.

Even though it's different for everyone, you shouldn't have any real problems on it. And as for my sex drive, it's normal.

The only reason I stay on alesse is because it makes my periods extremely short and light... I'd rather put up with the terrible pms and cramping it causes then to go back on ortho tri cyclen lo which gave me heavier, irregular cycles. Birth control basically works differently for everyone, so good luck! Smile

Some of you have said that you lost your sex drive when you went on Alesse, have any of you noticed that your climax has changed when on it as well. Like not experiencing orgasms?

Hi!

When I stopped taking Diane 35 back in March, I had went onto Alesse because it was suppose to be good for getting rid of acne. Well, those three months of being on them were hell. My acne got even worse and I was getting a lot of spotting on the third month as well as feeling sick to my stomach.

I've been on Yasmin for two months now and aside from a little spotting before my period, I've had no problems with it and its cleared up my skin a great deal.

All you can do is try it. If it's not working for you then talk to your doctor about trying a different pill. Smile
