Sounds Like It
Hi,
it sounds to me that what you are experiencing may be seizure related, especially since seizures are in your family. Have you talked to your doctor? If not, you should as soon as possible.
Good luck!

Night Seizures
The first neurology appt I could get is the end of july. I just don't know if I would be remembering the fear and dizziness if they were really seizures. Of course the fainting part I don't remember....

I can see what probably are seizure phenomina from my whole life - looking back - after I have learned more about my own kids issues.

Also, I have fibro and chronic fatigue and Dr. Cheney, the world renowned fibro expert, does believe that fibro and cfs patients suffer from night seizures. My gp is very up on fibro and cfs so he keeps up with the new info.

I also have learned that anxiety issues can be symptoms of seizures and they run in my family....Apparently they come from the same part of the brain that my sons seizures come from. Knowing this I can see that maybe my mom and her dad actually were having seizures because we all have so many similarities, just different diagnosis.

Would I remember these things????

Thanks,
hope

Seizures In Sleep
I am a 31 yr old women. I have had seizures in my sleep starting at 7 yrs old. It seemed to control the seizuers in my sleep, but I would still break through the med. From time to time it wakeing hrs. To have small peds. From the age of 12 to 15 I was off of meds. And had no seizures at all. Then at the age of 15 almost 16 I started having them again in grandmals in my sleep and peds in the day. I was on tegratal until the age of 30. Then the peds in the day where getting more frequent and they start the scare me having kids I didnt want to drive them anywhere. I went to my nuro. And he changed my meds. To trileptal, but it seemed to get wores now I can feel them coming on in the day where as before I could not. I have always been one to need a lot of sleep, but the fatigue I was feeling was crazy. I went to my family doc. She made an appt. At the sleep lab to have a sleep study done. It seem I only have seizure in the first few hrs. Of my sleep. And the peds are more often when I am tired, so at this point the are trying to find out what it is in my body that is lacking to bring down my energy level so low that as I get older an becoming more and more tired. Now that I think about it my grandmother used to fall asleep sitting up watching tv and it go worse as she got older also. I feel that I may have been getting the sleep that I needed between the ages of 12-15 but 12-14 hrs a night is crazy for anyone over the age of 16. I hope this will help someone out there and you can get your doc. To help you and find out what is causing you night seizures. It only took my docs. 25 yrs.

Narcolepsy
Denenne,hopefully.

This information may be of use to you!

Narcolepsy is not a rare disorder nut doctors are terrbile at misdiagnoseing it! It is a sleep disorder!!!!!!
It comprises of collapses with paralysis usually on waking or at the onset of sleep.
Collapses can occur without a trigger but usualy happens with strong emotion. Laughter is the most common trigger.
Halucinations may be seen or heard around this time.
Daytime sleepiness is excessive thus the collapsing (sleep attacks).
Absence spells, memory loss, automatic behaviour, blurred eyesight, slurred speech and the feeling that you are about to vomit are reported by some sufferers.
Not all symptoms are felt!!!!!
The main symptoms are collapsing and being paralysed while retaining conciousness.

I hope this is useful.
