Hi everyone. Smile recently my doctor performed some blood tests on me to see if I had a thyroid disorder of some sort. The results showed that my thyroid may be hyperactive. I have another appointment later today. This morning I did a little research and some of the problems I currently have include the following:

-feeling extremely nervous, irritable, and emotional
-tremor (in my hands)
-sleeping poorly
-being intolerant of heat
-sweating more than usual
-loosing weight despite increased appetite (i eat like a horse and I only weigh 101 pounds! I actually lost one pound last week for no apparent reason. I've always been thin, but never this thin, and i've never had an eating disorder.)
-feeling tired
-muscle aches
-more frequent bowel movements
-loss of hair (my outer eyebrows are very thin and tend to fall out)
-lack of stamina

i know a few of these symptoms are associated with graves disease. Those of you who have graves disease, have you experienced similar symptoms? I started noticing some of these symptoms in january, but as the months go by, they get stronger and more prominent to the point where my doctor noticed abnormalities in my blood tests. And there's no possibility of me being pregnant. I eat fairly well, my relationships are good, I try to exercise a few times a week, and i'm not under as much stress as I usually am.

Thanks!
Nicole

i was diagnosed 8 yrs ago. yes, all of the above. some symptoms improved after radiation and hormone therapy. still suffer fatigue and aches in muscles. some things can be managed. some things you just have to live with. excedrin helps a lot. make sure they check your eyes. i have glaucoma now. graves affects the whole body. rest is the key. had to slow down a little. frustrating at times. hard part is accepting and learning to cope with the stress it causes. takes time. hang in there.
