Yes, I feel fear, always - not any auras, but just plain fear, manly combined with strong anxiety feeling, but never as long as in your case. It is horrible. If it is possible I come to my husband so he can be with me and so I feel much better. I also prefer for him to be around when I have seizure (i am very thankful for his understanding and support, since I know this is not easy for him).

I always get a horribly feeling. Every so often I get a long ring in one of my ears, get a strange smell every so often, this is usually before my period is due. My epilepsy is controlled by 1600mg of gabapentin daily which I thinks works to an extent. I have given up on my consultant, i've found more information on websites than actually seeing him at the hospital. I had 2 horribly/anxiety feelings last night and then one this morning, it seems I come over all hot, and worried something is going to happen.

yes, during my seizures even the grandmals I can hear and I know what is going on. My doc didn't believe it either until I was in the hospital, and my husband was coaching me to breathe. (during a grandmal I hold my breathe)
the nurse even asked me to remember words and later after the seizure was over they asked if I could tell them what words they said to me..... I got all but one right.
So yeah, I believe you can hear and see.

You replied to my last post concerning the pain during my seizures, perhaps you remember me. Anyway I now officially have a third opinion from an epileptologist who looked at my eeg done by a local neuro here in town who found no seizure activity. She doubts that I have epilepsy because I have a history of depression, no panic attacks but some mild anxiety problems and also because the rising sensation at the beginning of the seizures is painful for me which is uncommon. The first two opinions from regular neurologists diagnosed me with simple partial and complex partial siezures. I am no so confused, do I have epilepsy or don't i. I want to know, but don't have endless $$ to fund and experimentation on my body. I don't no where to turn and don't know what to do. Should I have a pysche evaluation? Or a full blown sleep deprivation admit to hospital unmedicated eeg? I just don't know who to beleive in anymore. I'm sure in your years of dealing with doctors and life in general you have probably felt this way many times. Where do you turn to for answers when the going gets rough.

I was diagnosed with seizures 25 yrs ago after a car accident. Neuro said it was cronic-klonic partial complex seizures. Long word for uncontrollable partial complex seizures. I've been on most all of the medications given to control seizrues w/o much success. Currently my neuro has me on felbatol and keppra. Seems to do the best @ controlling my seizures. [ I seem to have traded the bulk of the partial complex seizures for simple and nocturnal seizures. At least I don't have to worry about being lathargic, etc., just migraines. A trade that seems to work.]

i also get this scarry feel that I have tried to describe to my neuro; but, just can't seem to find the words to describe. The only way I can describe the feeling is -- you know how it feels when someone sneeks up behind you and say boo? Kinda really scares the living daylights out of you? This has been the only way I have found to describe the feeling.

I've tried asking my husband to come to my aide and just hug me when I am experiencing a seizure; but, he can't bring himself to do that. He says that I won't let him [what ever that means]. My 3 kids come automatically w/o me knowing and they seem to sense when mommy is having a seizure. They'll come over and say "mommy needs a hug". My oldest daughter has found that if she's with me and witnesses me going into a seizure, she will shake me. This seems to break the cycle. Of course a hug follows the shake.

Best of luck to you. Work w/ your neuro and you'll find what works the best for you. This may take time -- worth doing.

I have seizures my self during to my near fatal wreck, but I never forgot my animal skills. I have a seziure alert german shepherd and do speeches and also help others. I have trained seizure response sogs, you can not train seizure alert), dogs for paraplegics, and hearing dogs. Also I am visionally impaired due to the severe head trauma and permant suture in my eyes. I also have that paranoid feeling a lot, but my dog (whos been in the newpaper and on new stations) conforts me.

I've heard of dogs that can be trained to warn a person of an onset of seizure actuvity. Is any type of dog trainable for this? Or is it just german shepard?

I have a border collie ~ 6yrs old now. He seems to sense when the kids are sick and will bark until I allow him to come into the house. He goes straight for the "sick" child. He seems to have the ability to comfort and to take the child's mind off their sickness. Seems to help in their recovery. When i'm having one of my migraines, my oldest daughter automatically will fetch our dog to give mommie hugs. It's kinda silly; but, at the same time, very comforting. The dog's also a very good listener! Never disrupts me when i'm talking - he just sits and waits for me to end blubbering. I then will give him a hug and tell him he's a good dog!

my 6 yr old son was diagnosed in oct 05 with generalized epilepsy. We just got a puppy(lab, aussie shepard, basset mix) to help keep him company. Is there anything I can teach her to do when he has seizures? I know when he had one last week, she tried to wake him up by licking his face and did not want to leave his side till he did wake up. Any ideas? Thanks so much!
