Q: Repeating Skin Irritation On Finger

I have a repeating skin irritation condition on my finger for about 2 months now. I have been to the doctor on 2 occations and all I get given is creams that do not work. Upon the application of the first cream it seemed to be healing but the condition has just gotten worse. The same happened again with a new kind of cream. The symptoms of this condition are:

1. Tiny "blisters/bumps" start to form
2. Extreme itchiness and irritation.
3. The blisters "water" a yellowish liquid.
4. The blisters pop which looks like the skin is tearing or ripped open where the blisters were.
5. As soon as it looks like it is healing the whole process starts again.

The first cream I was told to use is hydrocrotisone which seemed to work but the condition just worsened. The second cream I used was germolene and the same is happening again.

Has anyone got any idea what this condition is and how I can treat it now before it spreads to my other fingers?

Rashes
I think we have all had our fights with odd rashes. *grin*

can I ask you a few questions?

1) did you see a dermatologist? I know, on several occasions, I had to go see a dermatologist to get relief. In fact, I have one right now! Laughing

2) does it worsen after you do anything in particular? In other words, can you relate the rash to anything you do, touch, visit, etc?

3) are you sure it is a lupus rash? Have you tried an antibiotic ointment for a few days? Have you tried an anti-fungal? If you are currently taking any lupus meds, you may be taking an immunosuppressant. This can lower your immune system and cause you to get other types of infections (bacterial, viral, fungal) much easier.

I would highly recommend you seeing a dermatologist if you haven't...

Hope you get some answers soon!

Blisters On Hands And Fingers
I too have this problem. Only mine has spread to my feet and toes also. I first thought it was athletes foot, but my doc assured me it was due to the lupus. I treat mine with a triple antibotic. It seems to work pretty good, it just seems like there is no end to it though. I get one area cleared up, and another one starts. It gets very frustrating. I also have dry blisters that come up. These don't cause as much problems, except when I have to explain them to people who don't know what lupus is. I hope this has helped some.

Have You Tried
Have either one of you tried a topical steroid creme? This could help a lot. Ask your doctors about it! I know I now have three steroidal cremes in my cabinet and they have really helped with all the skin involvement stuff!

I Have This Too
Hi kanna
i started this rash at least 8 yrs ago. It also started on my fingers. Then it moved to my feet. I never get it on my hands anymore. I'm sorry to say i've tried many different creams that have done absolutly nothing. My doctor said it was like athletes foot, but I don't believe him anymore because it dosen't go away with those types of creams. I have an appt. With a dermatologist on the 16th, I will let you know what they say. But you really should see one yourself. Good luck!

I Have It Also
I have the same thing, tiny blisters filled with a yellowish fluid that when 2 or more get together they will burst and cause a nasty looking sore on my finger(s). I have tried the creams too and have found the only thing that helps mine is the "purell hand sanitizer" which is what the Dr. Recommended, it has helped reduce the frequency and severity of my outbreaks. Hope this helps.
