Q: Can Your Period Cause a Pregnancy Test to Show Up Neg.?

I was felt like I was preg. For bout 2-3 weeks, the day I should have gotten my period, I took a hpt , the one where it can tell you 5 days b4 ur missed period. Well it was neg. Late that night I got a spot of blood, and then nothing, the next morning I got another spot. Then a few hours later I got a heavy period but it didnt look like the blood that im used to, it almost looked like discharge mixed with blood, and I felt dizzy, well I had it for 6 days, (jus like my period normally would last) but after 2 days of a heavey flow it was really light. Like barley anything, well my period is over now its been like a day- and I feel symptoms even stronger, like sharp abdomonal pain, headache, tired, im only 17. I lost my baby 2 years ago so its hard to remember my pregnancy symptoms I had but as far as I remember they were pretty similar to how I feel now.
Can your period effect the results on a hpt??
Please respond asap!!!

No. One more thing- if you had a period, chances are 99.9% that you aren't pregnant. Have you changed birth control in any way like started or stopped or gotten off schedule?

Any change to your birth control can cause pregnancy-like symptoms because your body is trying to adjust its horomone levels back to normal. You are probably not pregnant, and you will probably start to feel normal again after a couple more periods.

Well some once and a while do , but its not common to have a normal or heavy period while pregnant. But if its heavy and painful that could possibly be a misacarriage? Maybe not tho. But birth control does have side effects too* how old ru ?

But I jus wanted to kno- cuz I have had situations where the condem broke and id rather kno my chances so if there was a possible pregnancy I could be aware and keep myself healthy.
