I did. It is nasty. The trick is to mix
it with orange juice (this usually works
best because oj is a little thick anyway).
Castor oil doesn't mix well with apple
juice or kool-aid. I wouldn't even
attempt it with milk. You need to stir it
as fast as you can (use a little ice as
well), plug your nose and start chugging.
Don't even wait for it to stop spinning
because by then it's already separated
from the oj. Just chug!!!! And don't
stop if you don't have to. I started
contracting within a few hours. I was
induced the next day but helped a lot with
the induction because I was almost 4 cms
by then. Good luck.

It's an old timers laxative. The laxative
causes the muscles of the lower body to
contract which causes the uterus to
contract as well. If nothing else it
relives constipation. You can also try
pill laxatives but I wouldn't be too
comfortable with that because some pills
are very strong. Btw, take one tablespoon
more than the recommended dose.

It is disgusting. The name speaks for
itself.oil. And that is exactly
what it is. I did it before both of my
inductions and it made the whole process
go much faster because my body was already
contracting and the cervix was already
dialating. One induction took 4 hours
from start of drip to baby was out. The
other about six hours but that was because
she was smaller (the smaller the baby
doesn't always mean the easier the
deliver; it just means the baby passes
through the birth canal easier). Smaller
babies have less weight pushing on the
cervix so sometimes they are actually
harder to get out. She was also almost 4
weeks early so my body wasn't exactly
ready for her to come out. The few
minutes it takes to chug the nasty crap
may save you a few hours of labor time.
Believe me, when you are in labor you
would prefer a shot to the head at that
point so the oil doesn't seem like such a
bad thing.

I forgot to tell you. If you don't feel
anything within 12 hours you can take
another dose. Then you should wait 24
hours to see where you are at. If there
is still nothing after 24 hours you can
repeat the dose. Most women never get to
that point, especially if they are very
near their due date.

Sinsaint,
i dont think I really wanna take it
again...It didnt seem to do nehting
yet...Im due in two days and theres not
really any signs of her coming on her
own--it made me sick..Eww, I dont even
want to think about it...
Do I still have a chance of something
happening even though its been 11 hours
already?

It worked for me but I did have to do it
twice. Is this your first baby? I will
warn you now. If you have to be induced
and your body hasn't already begun the
laboring the induction will be very
painful. Most women who get induced with
no prior help (like castor oil) will labor
for 24 to 48 hours. I much prefered the
shorter, less painfull labor so I gagged
it down. I know it's bad and I did almost
vomit but the three minutes of
unpleasantness could save a lot of hours
in labor. You could always give yourself
an enema but if you are anything like me,
that is an 'exit only' area. Why don't
you look into a very mild laxative like
correctal(sp?)? I wouldn't go with
ex-lax. That's pretty strong. If you do
the castor oil again have a glass of soda
ready to chug. The carbonation takes the
oil out of your mouth pretty quickly.
