Q: Not Sure Where to Post This

All the other forums had nothing to do with this...So I hope someone can either help me, or point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance...

Lately, i've developed a discoloration of my skin on my hands and feet. Now, it does wash off with scrubbing, but the appearance mystifies me. It seems to appear after/during work-seemingly because my hands and feet sweat due to my shoes and gloves I have to wear...It is a rust color. Why does this happen???

Extremely eHealthy
Have you spoke with the Dr. About this, he might want to run a blood test on you, sometimes a lack of or too much of a certain vitamin can do this, or an allergy, have you asked anyone else doing the same type of job that you are doing, are you on any certain meds that can be doing this.
Sincerely,
sandy

That's the thing, I don't have a doctor lol, so that's why I asked...I'm not on any medications, and I don't take vitamins. My diet isnt the greatest...As far as other people at work, the only thing that happens to at least one other person is the gloves cause our hands to have that rusty appearance if we don't wash out our gloves regularly...I work with alcoholic beverages...The part that mystifies me is my foot, since it doesn't come into contact with any liquid other than my own sweat. My foot looks like it came out of the bathtub for a long time, thats how wet it is, no smell though, just wet, and then it turns a deep rust color. Only my right foot, and my shoes aren't wet. It's probably something like you said, lack of some kind of vitamin. Thank you for your help though!!

Could you be more specific about what your job is (are you working with anything organic, chemicals, etc) and what exactly are you wearing on your feet and your hands (i.E. What is the material that is on your hands and feet? Does it have a dye in it?) is the discoloration only on your hands and feet? Do you have any other symptoms (itching, swelling, etc.) if you do have other symptoms, you could be allergic to the material. However, if you can easily scrub the discoloration off of your hands and feet (without pain or bleeding), it is likely some strange chemical reaction between the material and your skin (or some kind of chemical you are handling). If you are handling harsh chemicals, your protective gear is obviously not protecting you and you need to take action. Whatever the case, it is always good to see an md--even at a drop-in clinic.

I work in a brewery, where we blend smirnoff ice malted alcoholic beverages. I wear gloves sometimes on my hands, which are just designed to protect them from being cut by glass, they are made of nylon I think, with a rubber kevlar coating on the outside. I could see where the stains on my hands would come from, seeing as how the gloves do absorb liquid and all, but my feet, i'm perplexed, it's worse there. I wear the same socks and shoes as I have been for months, only recently has it cropped up. Some does come off with vigourous scrubbing, and it also stains my nails, which doesn't come off. I don't really have any itching or anything. I do also work with caustic acid, which burns when I come into contact with it, but again, only on my hands do I come into contact with it. Could I be absorbing something and it exudes through my feet?? Strange I know, but thank you again for your help.
