New Doctor Changes Diagnosis?
Posted: 06-18-04 09:48am

I live in a rural state with few option for medical care. Specialists are a rarity. We only have on neurologist in town and he is from a foreign country and his english is difficult to understand. I chose to go out of state and see an epileptologist. She deals specifically with female epilepsy esp. Catamenial seizures. She is not sure that the first neuro. Made the correct diagnosis, even though i've had a second opinion.

Anyways down to the question. She questions if the rising sensation that I get during my seizures is really seizure related or something else, because it burns to the point of being painful. Is the rising sensation painful for anyone else?

I'm really confused now. I had just started to accept the diagnosis and now there are doubts in my mind.

Thanks for all your input. Confused

What do you mean when you say you get a rising sensation?
Tell me more about you so that I can understand.
Thankyou sami.

Rising Sensation
Posted: 06-18-04 19:52pm

First I have an aura-deja vu, smell burning matches then my chest in the middle of my rib cage begins to burn(this is what all the doctors call the rising sensation) and it slowly rises up to my neck and goes down my arms. The burning is very painful. When the burning subsides I immediately sit down and begin rocking back and forth with my arms across my chest. This all takes between 30-90 seconds. When it's over i'm instantly exhausted, have a bowel movement and sleep for 1-3 hours.

Sorry I wasn't very clear on that.

Thanks again for all the help. :d

Ok...
I think I remember your posts you found all this out around 8 months ago right, but you have been like this your entire life?
I dont get that feeling. What happens to me is its like I get dejavu then I wake up on the floor, rarely I feel myself in a grandmal its awful. Because all my seizures are grandmals. After my neck aches badly like it burns on the right side. I guess its from blood pumping so fast to my brain or lack of oxygen. I would say lack of oxygen. Yeah I remember, the last bad seizure I had the emergency ppl took me to hospital and I slept for a few days after. It was very hard for me to breathe and my ribbs hurt alot I supose coz I fell but I was given alot of oxygen at a high level. Talk to your doctors.
