I am 15 years old and my boyfriend and I have been dating for a little over a year. We want to have sex but I want to use not only a condom but birth control also.

-if I tell my doctor that I want to go on the pill because I am going to be sexually active, will he be able to tell my parent? I am 15 years old.

-are there any weird questions that he might ask me?

-any general comments about the pill, advantages/disadvantages?

Thanks a ton. Smile

I don't know how it is there in the states. But here when I went to the doctor for bc she asked me if I was sexually active already. If breast cancer ran in my family. If it was ok with one of my parents that I was on it. And thats about all. In my situation if my parents wouldn't have been ok with it I could have still said that they were and she wouldn't have known otherwise. Then she gave me 2 months free, and when I went back after the 2 months I got a pap test done and she wrote out a prescription for a years supply of bc. My opinion in your case, its good that you want to be careful about having sex but if your worried about going to the doctor to get bc you may want to think about how mature you are and if in fact you should be having sex in the first place.

Here in the united states you dont need parents permision to go on bc. They now changed the bc requirements to patient/doctor privilage only....So under the law you dont need parents permission or approval to go on bc. That's what a friend told me wich her mom happens to be a rn. :d

Actually, I was also a bit curious about this, as i'd like to be on the pill in the future (hopefully sooner, rather than later...My period came twice this month!! Mad ). With medical insurance, approximately how much does it cost to be on the pill, and are there free trial periods here in the us (as cherry pie mentioned)??

My mother disapproves of the pill and would never let me start using them, as she believes that messing with one's hormones will only result in cancer, and that sex before marriage is a no-no. I'm not quite as young--i'm 18, and I think that it's a good age to start considering my options in that area.
