Q: Questions About Cycle & Nuvaring... Help!!

Okay. First question.

How long does this irregular bleeding last? I've been on the nuvaring for coming up on 3 weeks now, and it's as if i've been on my period the entire time. It's starting to get irritating.

Due to the irregular bleeding and other factors, such as cost, i'm thinking about quitting nuvaring, period, and waiting to begin birth control for a few months (i am currently not sexually active, my significant other just moved back to school). Anyways, I wonder how this will effect my cycle. According to the nuvaring literature, I should be taking it out at the end of this week to have my "cycle" anyways, but then putting in a new nuvaring.

One question I had about that was... Would the irregular bleeding lessen after my first "cycle" on the ring?

My other question is, if I take the ring out and leave it out after the 3rd week of use, like the booklet says... I will have a "cycle" resulting from taking out the nuvaring and the lack of hormones in my body, right? So I should be expecting my next real period at the end of next week, and if I removed the nuvaring, will I experience that regular period then, too?

Heh, I know i'm full of questions, but these are things I never had a chance to ask my doctor! Smile

Well, lemme think here... :d irregulare bleeding can last between 1-3 months when starting nuvaring or birthcontrol pill or the patch, things like that. (not the shot, where it can last forever....-sigh-) and yeah, you could get another period after your 'normal' (planned? Whatever) period because of the lack of hormones. Irregular bleeding would probably shorten up after the first cycle but it's not gurenteed.

That's all I got. Wink luck!

Thanks!
So i'll experience a period because of the birth control, and i'll also go through my natural cycle? Does birth control, and getting off of birth control, screw up your cycle? Like will it be pushed back? Hmm.

And I was also wondering, if I take out my nuvaring tomorrow, to go through my "cycle", it says to leave it out for 7 days straight. Are there any consequences of leaving it out for only like... 4 or 5 days, for example?
