I'm So Scared!
Posted: 06-16-04 12:32pm

My cell phone got disconnected and my doctor's office couldn't get a hold of me. They sent me a letter and it said my pap tests were abnormal. Apparantly I have a yeast infection (no symptoms) and my pap was abnormal. I'm so scared that I have cancer. They scheduled me for a oposcomy (or something like that) at the hospital. I have no health insurance and if I have cancer I don't know what i'm going to do. Anyhow, they made me come in today to get looked at (i've been having weird pains in my lower area). They moved my due date to dec. 25th (arg!) so i'm almost 13 weeks. Yay! I heard the heartbeat today for the first time and I cried a little. It was so fast and amazing to hear. Sorry this is so long, I just have been gone for a few days. Have any of you had an abnormal pap smear and been ok?

Hey, I don't think we've met yet but im teagan and 18 years old. I got my first pap about 7 months ago or so when I was first put on bc. The next time I went back to the doctor she told me that it had came back abnormal, but that I shouldn't worry about anything, I would just have to get another pap test within the next 6 months to see if anything has changed. I haven't done that yet, but I most likely will within the next few months. When she first told me that I was nervous, and even when she said that I shouldn't worry about anything it didn't help much because I thought if theres nothing to worry about, and nothings wrong why is it showing abnormal? Anyways, my point is all you can really do is be brave and find out once and for all what the real problem is, because the sooner you do that the sooner you can get treatments and get it under control. Jeez I should take my own adive eh? Lol...Just try not to worry so much.

I got a pap also in the beginning of my pregnancy and it came back abnormal and they did the cloposcopy or whatever and ended up doin a biopsy also and those came back with a small case of something and they still dont know what it is. But they said when im in the third trimester ill have to have another cloposcopy to see if it got worse..So sometime in these last months I have left I gotta get another one Sad . And after I have the baby I have to have another pap right away. Dont worry the docs know what they are doin Smile I was scared at first to but then I just realized that if it was harmful they would have done somethin but everything will be ok.

Don't worry! Abnormal could just mean that the swab was contaminated and they need a clean sample. Definitely don't let this stress you out! That's the last thing you need right now. We'll be praying for you that everything turns out normal.

Also - looks like I finally have a birthing buddy! My due date is december 27th, so we are only two days apart!

I knew you were going to be close when they changed mine. I'm freaking out about this because they made me come down right away to get checked out and they scheduled the colposcopy right away. Oh, and I forgot. As if things couldn't get worse at my appt. They told me that I have a urinary tract infection with blood in it. Ahhh! So not only do I have a yeast infection, a uti, possible cancer, I get an eviction notice saying I have to go to court, my roommates are being complete health forum and I have to move back in with my parents for a month or two. Ah, how life sucks. And I can't believe all this crap about the fakes.

I had an abnormal pap and all they do is retest you like every 6 months or whatever to make sure its nothing big. Then after the preg. You might get a biopsy. My doc said not to worry at all.

My pap test came out abnormal and I was freaking out too, but it turned out to be okay. I'm sure yours will be too, if you do have a yeast infection that may cause an abnormality in the pap smear. Try not to get too stressed I know you waited soo long for this baby.

Omfg! Apparantly I have psycho doctors. They're making me go to the hospital for the colposcopy after my very first pap smear ever. I'm not going. I'm going to tell them at my appointment wed. To give me a pap and we'll see what happens. Grr! My boyfriend had to move in with his parents and I had to move in with mine. It's going to be like this for a month and a half. Our parents live 2 hours away from eachother and shaun and I haven't been away from eachother more than one night. I'm so sad right now. I don'tk now how i'm going to sleep by myself for so long.
