Do You Devour Unborn Children?
Posted: 06-10-04 05:20am

From the holy bible

"shall the sword devour forever? Do you not know that it will be bitter in the end? How long will you refrain from telling the people to turn back from following their brothers?"

the end? How long will you refrain from telling the people to turn back from following their brothers?"

you love all words that devour, o deceitful tongue

there is a kind of {man} whose teeth are {like} swords and his jaw teeth {like} knives, to devour the afflicted from the earth and the needy from among men.

No longer devour men and no longer bereave your nation of children,' declares the lord god

and the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that he might devour her child.

Hamster mothers eat their babies mainly when the babies are ill or injured and the mother know they won't be able to survive. They don't do this because of hate, just because of caution.

It seems like it was a very reasonable response to your post. What does eating babies have to do with abortion? What does your holy bible have to do with anything?

The bible wasn’t originally written in aramaic. Hebrew greek & latin were its original format – not sure about the dead sea scrolls but it was before aramaic that anyway.

Gosh, silly me. Didn't realise it was the old testament.
They killed quite a few babies in the old testament, didn't they?

I make as much sense as you do. Religion is the last refuge of the lost and lonely.

"it's what they did 2000 years ago, so i'm gonna do it now" is a pretty pathetic way to live your life. If you believe in religion and think about it, and still think it's right, that's fine -- but then you don't shove it down people's throats. You accept that other people have different ways of seeing the world and different beliefs about what is right and wrong.

Nope wrong again they didn’t do it that way 2000 years ago. Christianity has never been accepted by society never.
It has never been tried by any secular society. We are as close now as we have ever been to christianity that is why there is so much opposition to it and why there is so many good things in society, respect of religious belief, equality for women, equality for all races etc

It means "that does not follow." it's latin, I think...But I don't understand your (sami) last post, what does secular society have to do with christianity, the whole point of secular society is that it is not based on god or religion.

Secularism
Posted: 06-10-04 10:52am

Secularism affirms that this life is the only one of which we have any knowledge and human effort should be directed wholly towards its improvement.

Affirming that morality is social in origin and application, secularism aims at promoting the happiness and well-being of mankind. Secularism demands the complete separation of church and state and the abolition of all privileges granted to religious organisations.

Secularism affirms that progress is possible only on the basis of equal freedom of speech and publication; that the free criticism of institutions and ideas is essential to a civilised state.

It asserts that supernaturalism is based upon ignorance and assails it as the historic enemy of progress.

It seeks to spread education, to promote the fraternity of all peoples as a means of advancing universal peace to further common cultural interests and to develop the freedom and dignity of mankind.

To remove an impediment to these objectives, we demand the complete separation of church and state and the abolition of all privileges granted to religious organisations.

These are the common goals of secularists everywhere.
