New to the Board, Need Your Thoughts Posted: 06-09-04 19:29pm
Ok...I'm start of saying that i'm new to
the board, and I would like everybody to
chime in and let me know your thoughts.
I have recently notice that my body has
gone through a change that I have not
experience before, such as my throat, late
april I notices I had a sore throat that
was out of the norm, today is june 9 2004
and I still have this pain in my throat, I
don't even have the flu. When I realize
that i'm not coming down with no kind of
cold but had this sore throat, I started
to look up reasons why this is happening,
the first thing that pop up on the
internet is hiv/aids, as a human I panic
and did more reading then I have ever done
in my life before. I try to diagnose
myself in many ways, I read all the
symptoms for hiv and aids, sore throat or
swollen glands, night sweats, headaches,
skin discolor and weight lose. The only
catagory that I even fit in is the sore
throat and the swollen glands, I do not
have the other symptoms, I do get
headaches but no more then the regular
person.
I did see my local doctor and he did a
strep test, but that all he did, it was
not strep. My last diagnose that i'm
hoping is the cavities that I have in my
mouth, because I did read that an infected
tooth can cause swollen glands and a sore
throat, so I did make an appointment this
morning to fix theses cavities, but am I
in doubt, yes I am. I'm not going to sit
here and say and count how many people I
had sex with(that will be easy to narrow
out) but i'll be real honest with you
guys, I don't have sex that often and had
I unprotected sex twice in my life and
they were long term relationships.
So with that being said, can you guys
chime in on your thoughts about my
symptoms. Thanks

Are you circumcised? Do you consistently
use a condom? Do you participate in rough
sex or other high risk sexual acts? Are
the 2 people from your recent
relationships still healthy?
Based just on what you said,
i'd say that you should probably be
tested in 5 to 6 months.

I dunno wot hes on about I dont think u
have to worry about aids and stop
panicking so much ull never enjoy ur life
if u worry that much

Sorry I need to correct my assessment.
You obviously have a medical problem with
the sore throat and enlarged glands. Upon
consideration unless there were other risk
factors that you didn't mention, is not so
likely that it is in fact hiv/aids.
Still you have eliminated some of the
other likely causes.
You need to go to a throat specialist to
get this diagnosed.
