Speak to Someone
I had depression when I was about your age and the one thing I wished I done at the start is talk to someone, someone you can trust a friend, your parents, a lot of things can be made worse by bottling them up. If you don't have anyone to speak to there are many helplines set up which can be very helpful. If none of these are possible or if talking doesn't work then do go and see your normal doctor its best to tackle depression as soon as possible before it esculates. Just try not to worry to much try and enjoy yourself spend time with your friends and family in the summer sun let me know how you go! Take care x

Ifer123 is right, I would add though that you may need to see 1st your local dr & then a cousellor to start - it rather depends on what country/state you reside in & what services are available (free/cheap/or$$) here there are kids help lines which I understand are great. There may be social/community/interest/hobby groups too that you might consider joining if you need to get out of yourself abit & do something different just for fun!!

Remember parents aren't usually the enemy (or at least we don't intend to be!! ) but sometimes it seems that way, still give them a chance, but also find someone mature & responsible to talk to, don't get led astry & end up doing heaven knows what!!

Hey hun,

i have been suffing from depression for 3 years I am also 17. I was your age from it started. Talk to somebody about it. I have been to 5 counslers(sp?) and shrink. I dont trust them but I just had bad ones I guess...I have a hard time trusting people. I am on my 4 differnt anti depression pill. I am currently using wellburtin(sp?) some people say that anti depresstion pills are bad for kids but its the thing that saved me. I have tried to kill myself so many times and I am still here I am meant to be here my time to die isnt now..Dont worry everything will get better..I have good days than a bad day the next. Write ur feelings down..I hope everything works out for ya hun!! :d

Get some help! Cbt is what worked for me but any help is better than none. Go to your doctor first and then ask about seeing a psychologist who specializes in cbt.

Doctors are not a lot of help in my experience, it's just a pill for everything with them Rolling Eyes . I got really depressed around your age too, just remember that it will eventually end (though it may not seem like it) . Thing wont' seem so hopeless when you become an adult (hopefully), and above all don't indulge it. Just flat out refuse to let it take control or you'll fall into a pit that's extremely hard to climb out of.
