Q: Birth Control Pill Etiquette

Hi everyone,
ok, so here's my issue. I take my pill religiously at 10 pm every night. But I recently got a job as a waitress, and work shifts at any time of the day. Is is grossly tacky to carry my pills in my cash belt and take one at 10? On one hand they're doctor perscribed medication, that needs to be taken at the same time every day. On the other, the distinctive packaging screams bcp, and that i'm having sex Embarassed . I think it's tacky for everyone to know this. Any ideas?

I think you should take them with you. Yes, you're having sex... But at least people know that youre being responsible about it! No need to be ashamed!

Wouldn't it be a lot easier to carry your pills around with you instead of a baby?
Always,

Sandy,
you don't need to take your pill at the exact time every day. The reason it is stressed to take it regularly is simply so that women will not forget to take it. I am a nurse, so trust me, I know. This doesn't mean that you should just take it whenever you feel like, but maybe start switching it in the mornings when you get up. I personally don't like taking mine in the morning because I feel slightly nauseous. If you do serve in the evenings and perhaps don't get home at the same time every night, just take it whenever you get home before you go to bed. You will be fine, just as long as you take it daily.

Sorry! I mean that message to be directed to laura, not sandy. I just glanced at the wrong name. Sorry for the mix-up.

You can also try and purchase a small pill case that holds a few pills and put them in there instead of the package so no one would know what you are taking...

Yeah, you could just get a different kind of case to put them in. Not tacky, but responsible.

And you do need to take them at the same time everyday. Maybe not at exactly 10:05 but it is important to at least take them within the same hour or two. I may not be a nurse, but my best friend is and also, my doctor would not lie to me.

It is very responsible to take them at the same time. If it was not important then doctors, nurses and pill manufacturers would not say anything about that! I think that you are being very mature and who gives a hoot if someone sees your pills! Maybe your responsability will rub off on them!
