Q: What Can I Do?

I have recently met a guy who is bipolar.
I didn't find out until three days after we met, but by then, I was already hooked on him. He's a really great guy and someone that I could really see being with.
I didn't see it as a problem, just something that we had to work through.
I even went home and started looking up bipolar, it really helped me understand and what to look for, etc...

For about the past week and a half, things have been really tough. He's been really withdrawn. He's very stressed out with his job and money.

We've talked at length about what happens when he gets depressed, and how he feels. He has a doctors appointment on monday, because he doesn't think his meds are working...

I just really care about this guy and I don't know what I can do to help him. I don't want to leave him, just because he's bipolar. I'm trying very hard to be understanding and supportive. I just don't know what I can do.

Any suggestions?

Hey!! All you can really do is what you have been doing...Being there and being supportive. Look on the bright side...He knows something is wrong and the med isn't working the way he feels it should be..And hes taking the step to help himself. Just know that even if he is withdrawn- it's nothing against you, it's just the nature of the illness...But your support even if he seems unappreciative- will be appreciated. Don't give up- it will get better- because he sounds like he wants to get better
