My girlfriend forgot to take the pill at her regular time and took it 8 hours late, but didn't remember until after unprotected sex, should we get the morning after pill? Should we not have sex for a few days? Any help please...

If it is a combined pill then you normally have 12 hours to take it before it's considered a "missed pill".

However, if it's a mini pill (pop) then (i think) you only have 3 hours, and would definately need to take a morning after pill if she took it 8 hours late.

She will be just fine. You don't need the morning after pill. If you read the instructions that come with her pill, it would tell you whether or not you need to use back up contraception. Since she was only late taking it once, she doesn't need to. I am on the mini pill and it says just take it as soon as u remember even if u will be taking 2 in the same day. And no back up contraception is necessary. I am pretty sure it is the same for combined pills. Tell her to look at the instructions on her pill pack to ease your mind. Hope this helps.

As everyone else said "don't worry". As long as she remembered to take it in the same day she is fine. The only reason it is stressed to take the pill at the same time daily is simply so women will not forget to take it. If doctors told you that you could take the pill as long whenever you wanted as long as it was daily, women would never remember.

A combined pill is the typical birth control "pill" it contains both hormones; estrogen and progestin, a form of progesterone. The "mini pill" is a progestin only pill. Some women who's bodies cannot tolerate the extra levels of estrogen for whatever reason may move to the mini pill.
