Q: Dark Stool During Menstration

Hi all! I'd appreciate any ideas in regards to my health concerns.

The past four menstration cycles, my stool is black, tarry and very runny. Sometimes it's dark green. I also have had a lot of gas everyday for many months and this is very abnormol with my history. I rarely take iron pills and in the past even when I took them regularly, my stool was brown.

Four months ago when the black stool started, I was very weak and showed many symptoms of anemia, as I have experienced off and on for eight years. I went to the doctor, and they found no blood in my stool. They took a blood test for anemia but my results came back normol except that my white blood cell count was extremely high. They think I had a virus.

I commonly have runny stools especially during my menstration cycle, it's just during menstration it's been black or dark green for the past four months. And I haven't had any pains or weakness for three months.

Colon cancer runs in the family.

Anyone familuar with this?
