Q: Is Pregnancy Possible After Partial Hysterectomy

Hi

i am new to this forum and I hope that someone out there can help me. I am 32 years old and had a partial hysterectomy 7 months ago. My recovery went very well but about 1 month ago, I began experiencing symptoms which i've only had during pregancy. I also have a pain in my left pelvic area and, breast tenderness with a milky discharge. My gyn has referred me to a breast specialist and to have a pelvic ultrasound.

I would love to be pregnant again but don't want to be floored at my next visit. I've read that it may be possible to be pregnant. Question

The middle of my stomach is hard, I am pouchy, and feel a type of kicking/thumping too but all test have come back neg. I had an ultrasound done last week and the results were weak...The coundnt find one of my overies, my spline is shifted to the right a bit and the have no clue what the movement could be!

So if you have any info please pass it on to my because I am confused and getting very scared

Pregnant After Hysterectomy
Hi

i've just had an internal ultrasound done and I am waiting for the results because I do feel like I am pregnant. I've also had a breast ultrasound done and I found out that my milk ducts are filling up. My last daughter will be 6 years old in 2 months so they have not been able to tell me why this is happening.

I've also been having stomach cramps, nausea and puffiness in my stomach sometimes it does tighten as well. While having the ultrasound done, they had a tough time locating my left ovary. It was apparantly hiding behind my bowels but it is all very scary.

I hate knowing that I can't have any more children and this is just a tease for me which is driving me crazy.

I will keep you posted with my results and please let me know of your progress. Confused

Still Waiting
Hi

i did receive some results, my milk glands are enlarged and producing milk though they do not know why and my gyn thinks that I have a gastric problem and wants me to see a specialist. I don't know if I believe that though. I need to have someone explain to me why after 5 years, (my last daughter will be 6 years old in august), my body is suddenly producing milk.

Keep me posted on your progess.

If you have had a Hysterectomy, you have no Uterus....There is no place for the sperm and eggs to meet and form a fetus....Hope this helps...

if you are at all pregnant, it may be ectopic or attached to other vital glands like your bowel etc. This is life threatening so you should see a doctor asap. I read somewhere that such fetuses don't survive and could be fatal to the mother. I don't however know if you could save the fetus outside the mother's body. Good luck!

I am sorry..I should have said that you cannot get pregnant and have a baby without a Uterus instead of you can't get pregnant...I know this well as my daughter had a Ectopic pregnancy and it was a pretty rushed surger...Thanks for the correction...

Pregnancy after Hysterectomy (partial)
I had my hysterectomy (partial) in 2000, and have been pregnant (2005) - the fetus did die by Feb 2006. The death caused a severe abdominal infection, taken care of by high octane antibiotics - and here we go again! I'm not sure how far along I am this time, but from previous experience, the fetus cannot survive more than approx. 3 months - if that helps anyone at all. Just an FYI that yes it IS possible and NO it doesn't have to be ectopic - and NO the fetus cannot survive.

Gyn's don't have all the answers, BUT Endocrinologist do a much better job at finding the hormonal causes of what you all are talking about. Maybe you should consider trying an enodcrinologist to help you.

You cannot get pregnant after a partial Hysterectomy...You are missing your Uterus and this is where the baby would grow...You are still able to produce eggs through your active ovaries...They could be withdrawn by the doctor for fertilization with the male sperm...This then could be inserted into a surrogate woman for the egg to grow and have the child, but you cannot do this yourself...

Just finding out!
I recently had a partial hysterctomy(October 26, 2009). I just found out from reading the post here, that I can still get pregnant but the fetus will not survive. This is heart breaking news to me. I pray to god that I never get pregnant. I dont know if I could handle not being able to carry a fetus to term if I were to get pregnant.
