Q: Testing For Glucose Levels

How long after a sample is taken should it be tested? I've heard that when testing for glucose levels if the sample is left set for too long that the sugars can attach to the red blood cells and provide a false "low". Is this true?

When you take the test strip out of the container you should prick your finger and test immediately, leaving the test strip out too long or leaving the blood on the strip too long will both result in abnormal readings.
