Hi, I have been sleeping with my partner for ten months without contraception and I have not become pregnant. I really want a baby more than anything but I do not know how to go about finding out whats wrong with me. Do I go to the doctors? Family planning? A lot of people have suggested fertility clinic there is not one in my area that I am aware of. Just need a bit of advice can anyone help???

Hi, my name is pat, glad to see you found a site to help you there is alot of great poeple on this board.

Well let me say this normally a dr will not start infertility treatments or investagations until exactly 1 year of tring to get pg, but then again u may find one out there that may go ahead and check into youre problem or to see f u havea problem, I have been ttc for 6 years Shocked , I know exactly how u feel about not getting pg so soon.

If I may ask where about's do u live ta? Maybe I can try to pull up a dr in youre area that u may want to try or call about.

I would say talk to a re dr they are great in infertility and the treatments, that is exactly what I am seeing now. But have only been seeing him about 4 months so far, I was seening my regular ob-gyn dr which does some infertility, but she dx me with endometriosis so she referred me to a re dr, and about 2 months ago I had to have a surgery to have it cut out, so I am hoping maybe soon I can get pg now, I hope and I am opraying hard.

But I would check into seeing someone soon if I were you and if u want to speed things up some. I wish you the best of luck,

take care and god bless :d

Actually, a good fertility doc will wait 2 years, honestly. What have you used for contraceptive in the past. Anythign hormonal? It can take along time for those to wear off and your body to get in sync again.

This website is awesome for information for those trying to concieve: Tcoyf.Com good luck.

An re is a reproductive endocrinologist.

The amount of time a re or fs (fertility specialist) will wait depends on your age and any symptoms, as well. For example, if a condition such as endometriosis is suspected, that will be treated right away. It's not necessary to see an re for endo. Your gynocologist should be able to diagnose and treat that for you as it's a condition that affects fertility but isn't limited to fertility related issues. Same with pcos. If your periods are irregular and/or very far apart, that is something that will be addressed promptly.
I hope this helps.

Good luck.

P.S. Teenytoona is right. Go out and get the book taking charge of your fertility by toni weschler or join the website. The information you'll find there is invaluable.
