Hello. I'm a little terrified here and wondering if anyone could give me some advice. My last period ended on may 11th/12th and I was sexually active on the 13th. I used a contraceptive film (spermicidal film that goes inside the woman) but didn't realize I needed to let it dissolve for 10 minutes before doing anything. I also did begin to have sex for a few minutes before using a condom. On the 15th I became ill (tonsilitis? Possibly) and was pretty sick until the 17th or 18th, so I don't know if symptoms were present (my entire body was ill), but after becoming well my breasts were extremely sore, my lower-mid back was extremely sore, uterus felt "full" with a little mild cramping and seemed to look a bit bloated as well. I basically felt like I was a few days prior to my period, but I had just finished my period about 4-5 days prior to this. I'm now about 1 to 1 1/2 weeks before being due for my next period.. Breasts are still extremely tender, increased sleepyness (sleeping 10-12 hours and then napping a few hours after waking up!!) and tonight I had a brown, watery discharge. I was wondering if this sounds like I may be pregnant, or possibly something else? Also, how long should I wait to get tested? I don't have insurance so I can't get a blood test at a lab, and I was waiting to see if I missed my period before taking an at home test, as I heard they aren't very accurate until after a missed period. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

First off, you can't take a hpt until 4 days before your missed period so don't bother. Second off, the brown discharge could be implantation bleeding. Wait until you're late. You probably won't even be late though...

Just an aside here, the brown discharge may be a sign of an infection, please don't rule that option out. Find yourself a good health clinic if it is persistent.

Also "implantation bleeding" would happen roughly about when your period ought to start, so that may help with the timing aspect.

Good luck.

People get implantation bleeding more than just when they would normally start. A lot of people get it before they start. That's one of the first signs that they're pregnant. I had it after I was supposed to start. I thought I was having a mc but the doc said it was implantation. Implantation also occurs (can occur) when the baby is burrowing deeper.

Candikane and others,
check out planned parenthood (or other similar associations) in your area. They have free pregnancy tests and offer care for those without insurance.
Currently, i'm in a bit of a situation myself. I am on the pill but I am fairly sure i'm pregnant. I just had a miscarriage in march (was on the pill then too). This would be the second child for my husband and myself, who are surprise!!! Both college educated and a bit older. Our son was a planned pregnancy, but this one would be a bit early (i was hoping for next year).

Let me just say.... it happens, no matter the socioeconomical status.

Unfortunately, there are some of us that are a bit more fertile than others.

We should be here to help each other

good luck! Love your babies!!!

maybe tweety has a shorter than average, or irregular cycle (i do), which could account for why she was able to get the results so quickly.
