How Long Is Down Time
Posted: 09-17-03 22:45pm

I will soon be having a hysterectomy, not really scared, just ready to have it done. I was just wondering, and I know everyones body is different but what is the normal down time? How many days in the hosp. How many days off work? I know you shouldnt lift much but what about being on your feet? I manage my store and love my work and go crazy when I am not at work. Hope to go back as soon as possible. Would love any input.

My mother was in the hospital for a week and home for 2 and a half months. However her depression worsened after having the procedure done and now she is very unstable and unable to work.

I had surgery 4 weeks ago.I was in the hospital after a tah, then told i'd have 4-6 weeks recovery time,no heavy lifting and plenty of rest. It's been difficult since i'm a 28y/o single mother of 3 but it can be done, thankfully I have my mother nearby to help.

Down Time For the Big H

Laughing hi there my name is deb iam 29 and I just had a complet "h" 5 days ago.

Lets just say ouch omg I didnt belive the amount of pain. I have had
the surg took 3 hours I had a ab total. I spent 2 days in the joint. Lol
thats what it feels like. You cant move you have a chafter in you and your hooked to 2 iv's no food. Only ice chips unless you vomite like me and they take those away to. When every thing out. They want to see you walk. Your not going to like it!!!! And take a pee in a potty hat to see how much you are peeing. But after the cath comes out you still are getting iv's so you always wanting to pee. So up and ouch down. All day and night. If you like me I had 16 yes 16 staples holding me together.
And they take them ouch with no pain relif before you go. And tape you together. That you cant touch for 4 weeks the smell is nasty from you tummy. And you will have the runs for the 1st couple of days because they give you softer"s hahah you feel like your (_!_) on fire. It is watery. Your shoulder hurt from laying all the time and if you sleep with some one when you come home. Waren them you will be tossing and turnning to get in the safe zone to sleep.Thats where you feel on pain for about 3 hours then you start all over again. Showers are great. No baths
no sex for 6 to 8 weeks hubbie is going to love his xmas this year. Lol well I have spent to much time sitting up need to lay down.Ab's hurting dr's gave me disabilty till new years. Boss gave me till feb 1st. Good luck your going to need it. Deb

I was in the hospital 3 days, first 24 hours had a catheter and that sucked. The second day I had to get up and I was so sore had to do i/o's also to monitor the intake and output and make sure I wasn't dehydrated. The day I went home I took a shower first which softened up the skin and made the removal of staples a little easier.I had 16 staples also.I hate not being able to do things and if I do too much I start cramping and spotting.I go to my first check up since surgery, today to see what all they found.I want to go back to work.
