I Think I Have A...

I think I have a yeast infection and i'm going to see a doctor about it. My question is how does it happen, why does it happen, and how can I prevent another one after I get cured. If I have to give more details let me know.

To decrease your risk of yeast infection, avoid tight clothing, wear cotton underpants and practice good hygiene. Change your underclothes after prolonged sweating. Bathe or shower daily, and change into dry clothing promptly after swimming.
A yeast infection is a natural occurence & usually happens due to hormonal reasons as far as I know

Hi there,

yeast is absolutely a normal part of your vaginal environment (as well as other types of microbes - don't gross out, they're not all bad like the latest mentality is about them). Now yeast infections occurs when the environment of the vagina is "off" such as ph change, or some of the normal bacteria in there that keep the yeast in check die off (such as if you're taking a antibiotic), and several other reasons. Check out the yeast infection homepage for a bit more in-depth info on causes, cures and prevention.
