Q: Weird Headache With Vision Problems

I've been having these weird headaches for about 9 months now,
the first one I ever had I was sitting at my computer and all of a sudden
it hit me like a jolt of electricity in my head and it went to my feet,
i reacted so badly I jumped up and ran scared to death of what was happening.

It only happened 1 other time besides that time and now I get these weird feeling headaches and I have had this weird vision problem ever since that day happened, it's like I can look at something for a few seconds and it will appear to look 3-d and everything kinda fades when I look at it for a few seconds.

When I look at my window blinds at night the light from outside hits my blinds and then makes a shadow on each 1, and when I look at that shadow they all turn white, everything does, but mostly everything I see looks 3-d.

And also I feel outta my head most of the time like im not in my body or like my head is empty, I get dizzy at times and my eyes feel like they have alot of pressure behind them,they feel real hard like a rock sometimes. I've had a cat scan and a mri done on my head they didn't see anything but I went about 2 months after it started happening.

I've read if you go to soon that sometimes they can't tell what it is like if it's a tumor they might not see it, I get real worried at times and I would like as much info and help I could get. Please reply back thanks

Hmmm

First of all, if you've had an mri and ct then I doubt it would be a tumour though I know what its like to worry that it might be.
I sort of get the same thing with my eyes. I'll look at something and within a few seconds it sort of blurs/ fades (not like disappear fade but fade into itself if that makes any sense). Its a really weird feeling and hard to explain. I think you did well at this.
How long did the headaches last, seconds, minutes, hours?
I suffer of ice pick headaches, which are short bursts of pain, only lasting a milisecond to a few minutes. I get them several times a day (anywhere between 5 and 40) however, from what I have researched they are not nearly as common as this. (people here probably get them more and, like me, is why they found this site). I just put my eyes being weird down to the headaches but am going to talk to my neurologist about it when I see him again in july.
If you are worried go and see an eye doctor, i'm sure your doctor could refer you to one.

The headaches last from anywhere in between 2 minutes to all day long.
They feel like tingles then they get worse in one portion of my head.
Thanks for replying back friend, sounds like we have the same vision problem.

Weird Visoion

I had to reply to your post even though it is older. I have been researching for 2 months to find out about my vision problems and until your posting I have not heard anything that relates to my problem. I have vision problems that I consider 3d or hard to explain. I feel seperated from it. I went to the eye doctor as I see like a web in my vision that is 3d and she checked me, I have no eye health problems and she advised I see a neurologists. I've had migraines (all differents types) for years and she told me it could be a blood flow problem or another form of migraine. I get a funny feeling in my head like I might pass out but it never goes there. I do have more migraines than normal this year but they are also less severe which I can live with. Please let me know if you found out anything about the 3d vision . I also get a tingling or numbness in my lips when experiencing the vision thing. ??????????? Weird isn't it?!

Have you looked into depersonalization? It could be something related to this, i've heard of the 3d thing due to this and also the seperated feeling from reality.

i am stunned! I have been living with this exact same thing for almost 2 years. I have had ct scans and an mri and they found nothing. I get these super lightning fast ice pick headaches and then dizziness and confusion. My face feel pressurized and my eyes twitch. God I have been thinking tumor and all sorts of stuff. I have turned a happy and healthy lifestyle into a miserable one. Don't know what to do to treat it.

Ice Pick Headaches

Wow! My 17 year old daughter has begun having these within the last week. She (and i) are also prone to full-on migraines, vomiting and all. She says this new thing feels like somebody is bashing her in the head or stabbing, always on the upper left side,accompanied by dizziness or lightheadedness and blurry vision.
Here I am thinking brain tumor or something equally horrible. I think I will still take her to the doctor, armed with the information I have gleaned from this and other websites, to get her some preventative meds. Sometimes it just helps to know we are not alone!

I had the same type of headache 5 years ago. I had about 4 of them in a month. I had the same feelings of dissasociation with my body and what was going on around me. I ended up having 2 strokes (i was 32) and was diagnosed with central nervous system vasculitis.

Unusual Headaches

This problem ,in my case, after blood tests has been diagnosed as temporal arteritis.It would normaly occur in females 65 . My doctor and consultant say it is quite rare in younger people .It is inflamation in the temporal artery caused by a virus .

What type of doctors have you seen to treat this? I wonder if a neuro would be a good idea. There are seizures that involve headaches, visual changes, tingling and feeling odd.

An eeg may be a good step to figuring this out.

I have headaches that change my vision, one eye is not focusing right and they pupils can dialate differently. These have been diagnosed as ocular migraines.....

I am nineteen- I've been going through the same thing. I actually have it right now. I had to e-mail my boss and tell him I couldn't go to work. My vision/mind is very bad right now. I am very scatter minded and my vision feels as if it's going to go. Everything is hazey/dreamlike. I feel like i'm not in my head. My eyes feel as if they want to sleep, but when I lay down I cannot sleep cause I'm so worried. I honestly feel like crying/i'm going to die. It's the worse feeling ever. I just started my job so I have no money to go to the doctor, plus I have credit cards to pay off. I've been telling my mother, but she keeps saying it's all in my head, and she always brings up that I dont have insurance, ect. ect. Sucks that I feel this way and trapped. Hopefully I will get money soon to check myself out. It's just good to know that I am not the only one going through this.

Vision and mind problems

Hey there, I've actually been having the same sort of problems with my vision and mind lately. Im 25 now but this all started 2 years ago right as I was christmas shopping. It turned a life that was perfect and happy go lucky into a life of worry and pain. I was walking in a mall when my vision was interrupted by a bright light. I got a lightheaded feeling and began to panic. My vision had changed immediately. I looked at my hands and It felt as though I was looking through a web of sorts and I felt disconnected from my self. I did begin to have a panic attack, which subsided after a while, but the vision changes did not. I drove home with my girl friend and all the way I was panicing and telling her that my vision changed, but she didnt believe me. Ive gone to several doctors, and they all linked it to some sort of depression. Ive gone to several eye doctors and they all said my eye sight was perfect. I even got a pair of glasses for a small astigmatism, but It doesnt remedy my problem. Ive gone in for CT scans and they came back clear. Ive been dealing with this for 2 years now and have contemplated suicide. All I am told is that its in my head, but I know my body better then anyone, somethings is wrong and I know it. Im at a loss.

Me again.

Months have passed, and I still feel the same way. I took out blood, and everything came back fine. The doctors say I am healthy, and it's all mental. I have thought about suicide as well, cause the feeling is so bad. I don't even go out anymore, I have constant headaches, and I find it that I get weird after I eat. I always feel out of bodied/disconnected. Instead of finding out what's wrong with us, the doctors simply take the easy way out and say "there is nothing wrong with you". I hate it when people say there is nothing wrong with me, cause it makes me feel crazy. I am not crazy. I know how I feel. I know that I feel Physically bad. And instead of them helping, they don't do anything but say "you are healthy".

I just don't know what to do.

Extremely eHealthy

Go see a neurologist. Ask to have a blood flow study done. It sounds like a vascular problem in the head. A neurosurgeon can conduct a vascular study. You need to find a medical center that has a good neuroscience department. What state are you in?

neurologist

My boss's friend is a neurologist and he said a visit would be 1,000 dollars.

And he told me if I already got a CT Scan, that the visit would be pointless. I just don't know where to turn to really.

I feel like a crazy person. Sometimes random caca just pops in my head.
as I said- Scatter minded. But yet sometimes I am normal.

The other day I was having trouble breathing, but I was jealous cause I was out with someone I like and some other guy was flirting.

Anxiety?

I don't think it's stress.

I've talked to several people about this. They claimed to have been through this as well, and they say it will pass.

Well it's been 4 months, and i'm still the same.

Pseudotumor cerebri

So this is just one possibility out of many but the signs and symptoms some of you are describing sound like it could be an intracranial pressure problem. There is a such thing called Pseudotumor Cerebri which is a "benign" condition of increased intracranial pressure without evidence of a tumor or obstruction to the normal flow of cerebrospinal fluid. It's basically a result of decreased CSF resorption. It tends to occur most often in young, obese females though it can occur in others as well. Signs of increased intracranial pressure can consist of any of the following: papilledema (swelling of the optic disc in the eye which an ophthalmologist should pick up on, especially if they have a reason to suspect it), headache, projectile vomiting without nausea, slow heart rate, high blood pressure, and the potential for herniation of parts of the brain. Diagnosis is usually made with a CT and MRI that shows no signs of a tumor or obstruction in addition to increased CSF pressure (usually over 300 mm H20; normal is 70-180) and decreased CSF protein. The CSF pressure and protein levels are obtained by a lumbar puncture which isn't fun what-so-ever but may be worth it if you and your physician suspect this as a problem.

Again, this is only 1 possibility which you may want to discuss with your neurologist/neurosurgeon.

im only 15 ... jw what going on with me

i am 15 years old , and here for a few months striaght i have been having these werid headaces , it usally just hurts in one side of me head then after awhile it stops, i my have trouble seeing at times when this happens or sometimes just get real dizzy ... i have been puting it off and just takeing alive for it treating it as if i would just a headace but not i wondering if its something i should confront my mom and doctor a bout ... this was the first site that pop up when i thought maybe i could see what it is , tummer was the frist thing that came to my mine but idk ... maybe this is a sign that i need to tell someone bout it ... cuz i havent had no tests done or nothing to be on the safe side ...
