Have had this recurring burning sensation /stabbing type pain in my left heel since sept of 03.It is not in the bottom of the heel, but right below the ankle bone outter side. Went to the podiatrist, had xrays and was sent home to soak foot 20 min in hot hot hot h2o, then pack it in ice ofr 20 min. Then, roll foot over a soup can for about 10-15minutes. Ok. I was faithful to this for about 2 weeks..................Oh, was also put on some kind of anti-flammitory medication. Long story short, I can tell no difference. The xrays shows dark masses in the area I was having pain and burning. But I was given no explanation. It has been over 6 months. I am not going back to this person, because I felt he was joke. If this sounds like I should find a reliable other podia. Dr. I will. Please anyone that has experienced this and knows whats going on please....Let me know! This Dr. Admitted he wasn't sure what it was.....Duh I only wear new balance shoes so I know its not my shoes! No accidents and not into running! Thanks for listening! Smile

Heel Pain
Well I guess there's not alot of people out there with this problem but it sure has been a problem for me too! I've been to two differant doc's. The first one said I had a bone sur on my right heel. He gave me a cort. Injection. After that I walked out of the office like a new women. That is until a week later when the pain came back and its been getting worse. I then went to a second doctor and he told me that I was not streching it enough. He gave me anti/inf. I had to stop taking that due to gastritus(misspelled).
I spoke to a lady at chruch and she gave me a bottle of dmso.
You can go on-line to find it. It seem to work ok. My pain gets really bad sometimes, when I have been standing to much.
I have had this pain for almost a year now, and its getting to me too. The black spots in your xray may have just been a bad xray. But you do need to investgate it more. Go to another doc. Heel pain, they say is hard to cure. There are vit. You can take : c, flax oil, ginger, pancreatic enzymes and bromelain) I found these on-line. You can also use athletic tape and suport our heel(find out on-line). I am going to try taping and vit. Next myself. Must do something, pain is keeping me from life!!!!!!! Hope this helps.

Its Not a Heel Spur...its Plantar Fasciitis!
It sounds like you both have pf. I, too, have it and know exactly what your are going through. I have been suffering for over 2 years and all conservative treatments have failed. I am currently considering surgery. Check out these websites for more info on pf:
