I am suppose to start seasonale next week. My purpose in switching from orth-tricyclen is b/c I have horrible periods(heavy bleeding, severe pain, clots), reoccuring cysts on my overies and they suspect I have endometriosis as well. I have been told by my Dr. that this should stop the cysts from reoccuring, slow down the speard of endo. if I have it as they suspect and that the periods should get better esp. after 1st package(3months).So my question is: Has anyone took this longer than one cycle(3months) with simular conditions as mine and if so whats your out come and experince so far?

I just started seasonale yesterday, and I am already having side effects of nausea and lightheadedness. I HATE IT! How long should I give my body to adjust to the new pill before I give up on it completely? I have tried many other pills and so far all have made me feel this way. I decided this pill will be my last, and if I'm still getting sick from this one then I'm done with birth control all together. How long should I give it this time before giving up completely?

i dont know how women take birth control pills. i have nothing against people that do, but the concept scares the crap out of me. and reading this thread the whole way through REALLY scared the crap out of me. i know soooo many women that have taken birth control pills and are now infertile because their bodies refuse to go back to the way they were pre-birth control. i feel so bad for them and fear if i ever took birth control that would happen to me too. all these women want babies now... but cant have them. ever think that maybe all of the horrible side effects youre getting is because what youre doing is going against your body's nature? if you were only supposed to get 4 periods a month, then all women would only get 4 periods a month. i do see how this is beneficial to women with reproductive issues (cysts, endo, etc) but for healthy women... why not use spermicide, condoms, diaphragm..? im not judging... just asking.

Birth control pills do not cause infertility. Most women in this thread are experiencing common side effects like breakthrough bleeding and nausea. If these side effects don't go away then that particular pill is not right for them and they need to switch. Finding the right pill can be a bother for some and others cannot be on certain hormones all together.

Birth control pills can mask hormonal conditions, but it won't cause conditions. The women you know likely had a condtion that started while taking birth control pills, but that doesn't mean one caused the other. There is no medical reason for a period every month.

There are many reasons for taking birth control pills other than pregnancy prevention. And some people don't like condoms or any other form of birth control-- they aren't really as reliable either.

Seasonale side affects
I've been on Seasonale for almost a year. I really like the pill but I'm experiencing side effects that I'm not happy with. I have fair skin and I noticed this summer that my skin is tanning strange. I have dark blotches on my forehead and cheeks. I have also noticed that I sweat a lot more since I've been on this pill. I can deal with these okay, but over the past 3 months I've noticed my hair is starting to thin. I've always had long thick hair and I find myself getting concerned about how thin it is on top. I think I'll have to change at my next OB appointment.

Oh no!!
Reading this scared me. I've had spotting now for like 4 days. I hope that the spotting, the cramping, and the moodiness goes away for me or I'm going back on marvelon.

So to continue my post from august 30th, the spotting has turned into a slight period. but I feel like super crap, im moody, sometimes feeling nauseated and loopy. over exhausted, and light headed sometimes too. I also feel like i could kill someone just for annoying me, i dont know if i should just wait it out and get a new pack after this one to see if theres a chage. or if i should just go back to what i was taking before. or just not take it at all again.

if anyone has any advice i'd be greatful.

Seasonale
HI everyone
I have been on Seasonale for almost 2.5 months i have been spotting for two weeks i desided to call the doctor and of course being almost the long weekend hes on holidays. im not a huge fan of going on line and trying to self diagnoes but i erally havent found anything that i was overly suprised to hear.
Basically your body needs to get use to the pills (that makes sence we go from once a month to four times year) in doing so light bleeding weird periods is normal for the first few "cycles" (packs) then things should normal out once our body understand what the hell is going on with it.
No need to be scared this is our body being normal doing what it does if anything is happening that we dont like well on the pills come off and change brands.. it really is that easy as for me i think ill wait it out see what happens i have two weeks left of active then placbo and a new pack.. but i do need to speak with the pharmasist about not offering me generic geez its expensive
anywyas as for everyone who is experiancing "PMS symptoms" its normal... so stop worring!!!
and if you REALLY dont like it........ change!!

everyone remember when the needle came out for birth control (cant remember its name) the same thing happened to alot of those girl MONTHS!!!! of periods... poor things.... but when they waited it out.. they ended up reaping the benifits.

Hope this helps

Re: Cardiac,
Went in for my physical and needed a refill for Aleese. Dr. suggested I try Seasonale...will only experience period quarterly. Currently had no problem with Aleese but thought it sounded great and Dr. told me the levels of estrogen are exactly the same. Was taking pill for 6 weeks...woke up one morning proceeded into the bathroom. Suddenly felt lightheaded, broke out into a heavy sweat with a need to vomit. Within seconds fainted..awoke 2 hrs later needing stiches & getting a concussion. So far I have been told I may have had a inner ear infection..causing me to faint initially. Currently still on Seasonale and dealing with migraine's, increased heart rate( 20 beats from my norm), repeated symptoms of heart attack..ie; chest, jaw & neck pain as well as numbness down left arm. Have had stress test, tilt table and now having a CT angiogram done. However, cardiologist doesn't believe anything is wrong with me. Dr. also told me I am probably suffering from a form of vertigo. I did suggest maybe the BCP is causing me to have these symptoms. He sent me for x-rays (checking for blood clots) said it came back fine and nothing to do with Seasonale. This pill has worked for me with regularity of period every 3 months(no spotting at all). However, I am at the point, as well, of self diagnosing myself. I will try anything to help stop the symptoms which I have now been dealing with for the last year and a half.

Seasonale
I have been on Seasonale for the past 7 weeks and things have been ok so far. I haven't had any breakthrough bleeding, but since yesterday have had a bad headache and nausea. I don't know if that's from Seasonale. I will see how I feel the next few days. Hopefully it's just the weather changes. My only question is- what is the first period like after three months of having none- is it very heavy?

Seasonale
I am on my first pack of Seasonale and on week 6, and everyday I feel slight cramping like I am about to get my period within a couple of days. I do notice my breasts slightly larger. Other than that I have had no other side effects like bleeding or headaches or nausea. The cramping bothers me but will go through the whole pack before I see my Doctor and go from there.

i hate this pill.. i am on my second packet... so around 5th month.. for the first 12 weeks i bled for about 10 weeks straight! it was horrible.. my breasts hurt 24/7, theyve frown 2 sizes and i had an augmentation years ago. i dont need this crap. i hate my boobs now, there too big, im bloated all the time, gained about 12 lbs and im depressed and sad. i went on it because i have only one ovary left and it keeps getting cysts and giving me problems on a daily basis. my dr wanted me to try this as a last resort before we opt for more drastic measures. guess the next step for me is another talk with her. i cant live like this i hate this pill its poison!

I've been on seasonale for ten weeks now, at first it was fine but once i got to the fourth or fifth week i had breakthrough bleeding. It was as heavy as a normal period and it hasn't stop yet and i've been having horrible cramps. I've had a 6 week long period. I now have to take iron supplements because of the blood loss and i'm not going to finish the rest of the pack. My doctor is switching me to ortho tri cyclen so hopefully that works out.

Love Seasonale
I am just finishing my first package of seasonale. And I loved it! It kind of worries me that I am only having one period every three months, especially since this "period" has been extremely light and didn't start until the fourth day of the white pills. Is this normal??? But I had not one side effect from the pill. Never spot bled, no nausea, no weight gain, better acne, and no cramps til the white pill. I think its great. But I would advise taking it at night before you go to sleep. I take mine around ten and go to bed at eleven. I wake up feeling refreshed and never feel any side effects from the pill. Smile

Reading this blog was very interesting to say the least and very informative. Well I also was prescribed Jolessa and experienced the break thru bleeding, breast swelling up an additional cup size, weight gain, then I ceased and desist from taking them. I was thinking about starting them again in order to save my uterus but at this point I think I will have to investigate a surgical option. I can't take the pain and no longer want to endure the pain of the pill. At this point they can take out my uterus for all I'm concerned. I don't desire to have children at this time because I waited so long and the "men" I dated were not marriage material. And besides I've been teaching for 14 years and from what I've been told having a baby is overated. Lastly my bloating and my stomach sticking out makes me feel like I'm pregnant and I don't think I would have the staying power to endure that process for nine months. So they remove the endometrium lining. Freeze my eggs and I'll pay for a surogate and I'll pick out the father of my baby from a list of donors or something. I refuse to put up with all the dogma. Also fatigue with my weight going up and down with this endometriosis. As well as enduring a profession that doesn't respect teachers. I look at this way I know I've helped to educate and raise thousands of children due to my calling in this life. Now it's time to become an attorney. I was going to restart taking the Jolessa next week when my period starts; now that I've read this I'll complete a total body cleansing to start the weight loss and continue with the expensive acupuncture to help eliminate the pain! Thank you to everybody that contribute to my decision. Lastly I never knew there was an endometriosis support group. All my gyn just encourages me to have a baby.

side effects
I have also had some lightheadedness as mentioned by other users and felt more tired than usual since starting on Seasonale. But as I'm also only 5 weeks away from my wedding I wasn't sure if that was just normal stress or the medication or a combination of the two. Glad to hear I'm not the only one. According to drugs.com/seasonale these are minor side effects and don't fall into the category that require immediately informing your doctor.
